The Ukrainian rock band ELLIS presented a new single “We”, which was released on all streaming platforms Spotify, YouTube, and Deezer. This is the first of three songs that will become part of a thematic series created at the intersection of the band’s personal experience, loss, disunity, and a new stage of the band’s life together in Kyiv.

What is the track “We” about?
It’s about us. About all of us. About a country where, instead of “how are you?” they ask “where were you when it hit?” About a people who growl because they don’t have time to cry. About genocide without quotation marks and love with a deficit. And also about hope, which must be kept in the heart, even when there is hell outside the window. “We” is a song about the splitting of identity, which hurts on a deep level. But above all, it’s about trying to put yourself back together again.
The music of the track changed its form several times – the search for the sound was as lively as the theme of the song itself. From the initial harmony to the final arrangement, “We” went through several internal transformations before becoming what it is now: a depressing but honest confession in which cold meets warmth, and truth meets silence.
By the way, the new guitarist is making his debut!
Yes, the same guy we hired on a whim (a friend of the bassist). It was his first time in the studio, but he played like a lion. Despite the lack of previous studio recording experience, he organically fit into the band’s sound, adding his own energy to the final track.
Work on the song took place at Lizard Audio studio, with Roman Bondar as sound engineer.
“We” is not just a song, but a call: to remember, to speak, to feel. And to look for common ground even in the most torn time.
The single is in the public domain from 13.06 on Spotify, YouTube, Deezer. Add it to your playlists, share it with your friends, write your impressions – the band is open to feedback and lives together with its audience.
