Amalia has presented her new original song “I Remember” — a bright and sincere composition about love for Ukraine, one’s roots, family, and the Ukrainian language.
In the song, the young artist uses images of blue skies, golden fields of grain, her mother’s fairy tale, and her father’s strength to speak about the connection with one’s homeland that remains with a person regardless of where they live.
“I wanted this song to be about Ukraine, which we always carry with us. Even when you are far away from home, you remember your language, your family, and where you come from,” Amalia says.
Musically, “I Remember” combines contemporary pop aesthetics with elements of Ukrainian folklore. Folk-inspired vocal intonations and traditional imagery are harmoniously combined with a modern arrangement, creating a musical bridge between Ukrainian culture and a new generation of listeners.
“I wanted to make the song modern, but I also wanted Ukraine to still be heard in it. I love contemporary music, but I also love Ukrainian songs and traditions, so I decided to combine the two,” the singer says.
Family holds a special place in the composition as a source of love, strength, and memory of one’s roots.
“I think that family is the first thing that teaches us to love Ukraine. I want people who hear this song to remember their loved ones and the place they call home,” Amalia shares.
“I Remember” is a song about Ukraine — a country you can leave far behind, but can never leave outside your heart.
