The reform of postgraduate training for doctors has been actively underway in Ukraine for several years. The reform is aimed at improving the quality of medical care and providing patients with qualified specialists.
Ukrainian doctors are not afraid of difficulties. During the largest war of the 21st century, they are moving forward, gaining knowledge, making breakthroughs in medicine and saving thousands of wounded.
On the eve of the Knowledge Day, the International Charitable Foundation “Health of the Ukrainian People” conducted a survey on the educational medical platform Axemedin to study the trends and needs of the Ukrainian medical community. More than 3,500 doctors took part in the survey.
More than 124,000 doctors in Ukraine choose the Axemedin platform for training.

The survey revealed the following key facts:

  1. Gender balance
The survey results show that 63% of women and 37% of men are studying. This demonstrates the high level of interest of women in the medical profession.
  2. Activity in online learning
The survey revealed that primary care physicians (39% of the audience) are the most active online learners.

The top 5 most active specialties include: cardiology (16%), infectious diseases (14%), surgery and orthopedics-traumatology (11%), neurology (9%) and nephrology (6%).

  1. Experience and age
The average age of male doctors is 42 years, with an average experience of 20 years. As for female doctors, their average age is 40 years and the average length of service is 19 years.
This indicates the great experience and responsibility of medical professionals in Ukraine.
  2. Sources of training
95% of doctors choose online platforms as the main resource for learning. This confirms the role of online education in modern medical training.
  1. Content evaluation
87.8% of doctors choose the Axemedin platform for training and rate its content as very high quality.
  2. Motivation for training
An important motivator for doctors was the availability of certificates with points, which is introduced in the system of continuous development of medical professionals. 46.3% of doctors indicated that the certificate is an important criterion for choosing training events, and almost half – 41.6% – consider it an additional advantage.
This indicates a growing awareness of the importance of continuous professional development. This indicates a high level of interest of doctors in continuous professional development.
  3. Willingness to pay for quality content
70% of doctors expressed willingness to pay for quality and certified content. Most of them recognized the optimal price in the range of 200-300 UAH per event.
These results indicate a high level of interest of doctors in further professional development and loyalty to online educational resources.
“These data confirm the high level of commitment of the medical community. Not only in the practical treatment of patients, but also in their constant striving for growth and development,” comments Sergiy Soshynsky, President of the Health of the Ukrainian People Foundation, initiator of the national program #ВрятуйКінцівку (#SavetheLimb).
In total, the platform has hosted: 800 online events, including forums, conferences, webinars, and professional schools. More than 300 online educational courses. 6,500 educational and informational materials were studied.
