West Channel Rd. Designer Tatiana Dieteman on Her Knitwear Line Made for Morning to Midnight

If your ideal outfit is something you can throw on in the morning and still wear at midnight, Tatiana Dieteman gets it.

The West Channel Rd. founder built her brand around that exact energy, filled with knitwear that looks chic without asking you to try too hard.

Dieteman, a former model, launched the line in 2022 after teaching herself to crochet in 2020, initially creating pieces for herself before word (and demand) spread.

“Knitting started as something very personal for me. It felt meditative, tactile, and grounding,” she tells ET. “I began making pieces for myself, and quickly friends and family started asking for them as well.”

After years in front of the camera, Dieteman developed a sharp instinct for how clothes should fit and she brought that into her own designs.

“Modeling expanded my understanding of personal style in a very hands-on way. I was constantly stepping into different designers’ worlds, learning how clothing can shift depending on how it’s worn, styled, and carried,” she explains.

“It made me deeply aware that how something feels on your body is just as important as how it looks. You can tell when a piece has integrity and when it moves with you and feels considered.”

The result? One-of-a-kind wardrobe staples you’ll want to live in.

“I learned to play, experiment, and embrace contrast,” she says. “The shapes, textures, and even the imperfections all feel intentional. Every decision has a reason behind it.”

To keep things extra special, Dieteman releases her collections in limited runs, so everything is a little more personal, and a lot less everywhere.

“When something isn’t mass produced, it holds a different kind of value, not just materially, but emotionally. People tend to hold onto those pieces longer and wear them more intentionally.”

Her references are just as thoughtful: “I find inspiration in art, architecture, nature, and vintage objects. I’m especially drawn to old films and directors like Sofia Coppola and Wes Anderson. Artists like Josef Albers and Georgia O’Keefe have also shaped how I think about form and color.”

True to her brand’s philosophy, the California native favors effortless styling, choosing pieces that move with you all day long.

“Day-to-day, I like to keep things very undone, with a knit thrown over bare skin, worn with something simple like trousers or denim,” she shares. “For a more dressed up moment, I’ll keep the softness of the knit, but pair it with something sharper or more structured.”
