Posted on 15 April 2025 By Admin No Comments on Lisostep presents its debut track “With Sorrow Joy” – a modern interpretation of the poem by Oleksandr Oles combined with ethnic electronica

“In an embrace of joy and sorrow,
One is flying, the other is backing up,
And there is a struggle between them,
And I don’t know who is stronger.”

The composition is a musical antithesis that reflects the inner state of every Ukrainian – the struggle between joy and pain. “The song embodies the realities of today, when we rejoice through tears, dance with pain in our hearts. “With Sorrow, Joy” is not just a track, it’s a cry that can be heard at every step,” Lisostep notes.

The song is based on a deep connection between generations: both Oleksandr Oles and Lisostep are from Sumy region, the forest-steppe zone of Ukraine. It is not only a common place, but also a spirit that is conveyed through music and lyrics.

The idea of the composition was born on a train between Kyiv and Odesa, at a moment when news, landscapes, life and war merged into one picture of existence.
“The lines of the poem ”Joy embraced sorrow“ became for me a symbol of unbreakable strength that manifests itself in the most difficult moments and stays with us forever,” the artist shares.

This is the first release for Lisostep, and he openly calls it experimental. The absence of templates, industrial polish and standard techniques makes the track unique and sincere. “It’s an artist’s manifesto, an invitation to a world where drive exists alongside sadness, and music becomes a reflection of our experience,” the singer adds.

The track “With Sorrow Joy” was created not only for special moments – it can become a part of everyday life: at work, on the road, during an evening run or at a party with friends. It can be heard at events, in bars, clubs, and lineups with an emphasis on Ukrainian EDM.
