Ireland: Erica-Cody releases Eurosong 2024 song “Love Me Like I Do” — the first of six entries

Posted on 8 January 2024 By Admin No Comments on Ireland: Erica-Cody releases Eurosong 2024 song “Love Me Like I Do” — the first of six entries

After last year’s edition, the Emerald Isle is gearing up for another Late Late Show Eurosong special. Over the course of several days, radio crazy Irish broadcaster RTÉ will release the six competing entries. The first has already landed: Erica-Cody with “Love Me Like I Do”.

Ireland is releasing this year’s Eurosong entries one by one on the popular radio programme The Ray D’Arcy Show. Erica-Cody’s entry is the first of six to be played on RTÉ’s Radio 1. Between Tuesday and Friday, we will hear the remaining five songs, with two entries released on Wednesday.

Eurosong 2024: Erica-Cody

Erica-Cody is a rising star in the Irish music industry. Although the Dublin native has two albums under her belt, she has yet to break through to the wider public. Irish television viewers might have caught a glimpse of her on RTÉ’s popular programme Dancing with the Stars. Her music mixes pop, hiphop and R&B.

Besides music, Erica-Cody is an activist for black rights in Ireland. A woman of colour herself, she is an active member of the Black Lives Matter movement and took the streets in Dublin to protest against discrimination. On top of that, she took part in the Irish Women in Harmony campaign in which musicians tried to raise money for a domestic abuse charity.

Erica-Cody has some television experience too. In 2022, she co-hosted the RTÉ 2 television programme The Main Stage.

Erica-Cody – Love Me Like I Do (Audio)

Co-written by Ruthanne, Erica-Cody, and Aimee, and produced and co-written by Richey McCourt, Erica-Cody has described her Eurosong entry as follows to RTÉ:

“The song has never meant more to me than it does right now. It really helped me get through one of the most challenging times in my life while navigating a breakup.”

“It’s the ultimate feel good self-love anthem. The meaning is in the song title Love Me Like I Do – you really are your own best friend, the one who has to go to sleep with your decisions and thoughts at night so no one can make decisions and love you more than YOU can.”

“So, to be able to represent Ireland doing the one thing I love the most (music) and have now made my career not only would be an honour but a huge full circle moment.”

Do you think that Erica-Cody can be the one flying the Irish tricolour? Do you like “Love Me Live I Do”? Let us know in the comments down below!
