Montenegro at Junior Eurovision 2025: Asja Džogovic with “I Tužna i Srecna Prica”

Posted on 4 December 2025 By Admin No Comments on Montenegro at Junior Eurovision 2025: Asja Džogovic with “I Tužna i Srecna Prica”

It has been ten long years since Montenegro last participated in Junior Eurovision, and 2025 marks the year of the country’s long-awaited return. Asja Džogović will take up the baton of representing her country in Tbilisi with the song “I Tužna i Srećna Priča”.

This is the third time in which Montenegro has participated in Junior Eurovision since it first debuted as an independent country. Maša Vujadinović and Lejla Vulić took the nation to 14th place in 2014. Then, in 2015, Jana Mirković performed the song “Oluja”, which earned the country 13th place.

Montenegro in Junior Eurovision 2025: Asja Džogović with “I Tužna i Srećna Priča”

13-year-old Asja Džogović hails from Bijelo Polje and already has numerous singing awards under her belt. She is also a student at the “D moll” (D minor) music school, which is associated with the composer of this year’s entry and Eurovision 2005 alumnus, Danijel Alibabić.

Asja was selected internally by RTCG, Montenegro’s national broadcaster, from a pool of ten talented young singers who had competed in and won various singing competitions in the country and throughout the region.

It’s natural for any performer to  feel an immense amount of pressure, especially as their country returns to the contest after an absence. Fortunately, Asja is ready for the challenge:

“I feel proud, but at the same time, a great sense of responsibility, and I will do my best to represent my country in the best possible way.”

What do the “I Tužna i Srećna Priča” lyrics mean?

“I Tužna i Srećna Priča” is a powerful ballad about a child’s search for love and family. The song’s lyrics are in Montenegrin, and the song title means “both a sad and happy story”.

Asja tells a story from the point of view of a child who is all alone. He is searching for his home but he cannot seem to find his way.

That step travels in a dream, he fantasizes about it
That love, at least in a dream, is his home
That step of small feet
And the dreamer, abandoned, alone

As Asja sings, she embodies this child who imagines one day finding his parents and a sense of home that comes with family. The child allows himself to enjoy that dream for a moment.

On the threshold, a heart like a door, he imagines
Like a guardian, palm to palm, a warm roof
For dreams, a pillow is a shoulder
Woven with threads of love

However, Asja then sings about a bittersweet feeling. This child imagines being with family and how happy he is, yet his reality does not match his dream.

This is a story about happiness when it laughs
But also sad, because it is not always like that…

Despite this reality, Asja encourages the child to stay strong and dream of a better future in which he finds happiness.

Let this one talk now, with the voice of love
Wake up happiness that sleeps everywhere

Throughout the song, Asja takes the listener on a journey that embodies the sadness of a child who dreams of family. However, the song ends on a hopeful note, that one day happiness will arrive for this child.

“I Tužna i Srećna Priča” lyrics – Asja Džogović (Montenegro JESC 2025)

Lyrics and music: Natalija Pavićević, Danijel Alibabic

Montenegrin text

Taj korak putuje snom, mašta o tom
Da ljubav, makar u snu, njegov je dom
Taj korak malenih stopa
I sanjar, ostavljen, sam

Na pragu, srce ko vrata, zamišlja on
Ko čuvar, dlan je uz dlan, topao krov
Za snove, jastuk je rame
Nitima ljubavi tkan

English translation

That step travels in a dream, he fantasizes about it
That love, at least in a dream, is his home
That step of small feet
And the dreamer, abandoned, alone
Although, the journey is long, it does not leave a dream…

Love talks about love, let everyone hear
And happiness laughs then, but it is not always like that…

For every step I am alone, while it guards a fragment of sleep
For a drop from the eye of two, in which fear is silent
Let this one talk now, with the voice of love
Happiness, which sleeps, wakes up everywhere…

On the threshold, a heart like a door, he imagines
Like a guardian, palm to palm, a warm roof
For dreams, a pillow is a shoulder
Woven with threads of love
That the dreamer travels in a dream, but never alone…

This is a story about happiness when it laughs
But also sad, because it is not always like that…

For every step I am alone, while it guards a fragment of sleep
For a drop from the eye of two, in which fear is silent
Let this one talk now, with the voice of love
Wake up happiness that sleeps everywhere…

Let love wake up happiness that sleeps…
