In her new single “Shtyl”, singer-songwriter OLENA NOSALII opens the door to one of the most intimate but silenced topics in Ukrainian music – sex with an ex who still sets the body on fire but has already burned the soul.
The Ukrainian scene is accustomed to either idealizing love or presenting carnality in a vulgar way. But “Shtyl” is something new: it’s a song about the line where pleasure no longer saves you, but only delays the inevitable – the breakup. It’s about the moment when, after the last time, there are no regrets. On the contrary, there is silence, harmony, and calm inside.
“This song is about my last sex with a man from my past. It was passionate, bittersweet. We realized that it was the end. But we both needed it to say “goodbye” without words,” says OLENA NOSALII.

OLENA NOSALII is one of the few people who speaks boldly and delicately about toxic relationships in which people are kept together only by sex. “Shtyl” is not just an erotic story. It is a message: physicality alone is not a reason to stay.
“I wanted to create a song that would allow people to look at their relationships from the outside. If sex is the only thing holding you back, maybe it’s time to let go. Even if it was the best sex of your life,” says the singer.
Her dream-pop music with elements of jazz immerses you in a state of reflection, calmness, and inner honesty. There is no shame in it. There is freedom in it.
