Luxembourg’s Laura Thorn on “La poupée monte le son”: “The doll is finally saying, ‘I can decide on my own!’”

Posted on 10 May 2025 By Admin No Comments on Luxembourg’s Laura Thorn on “La poupée monte le son”: “The doll is finally saying, ‘I can decide on my own!’”

She’s a veteran of dance competitions and has always loved singing. But Eurovision and the Luxembourg Song Contest presented a new challenge for Laura Thorn: dancing and singing at the same time and on her country’s biggest stage.

That’s one of the experiences the “La poupée monte le son” singer shared during her visit to the House of Helvetia — our fan meet-and-greet event at the offices of Swiss insurer Helvetia.

Laura said that she was contacted by a team of French songwriters who wanted to submit the entry to Luxembourg. They wanted it to feel relevant to the local audience, so paid homage to Luxembourg’s Eurovision 1965 winner France Gall and the doll in her song “Poupée De Cire, Poupée De Son.”

Laura says her doll has changed with the times.

“Sixty years ago the doll was controlled by other people. But finally the doll is saying, ‘I won’t be controlled. I can decide on my own!”

You can watch the full interview above. And join us at the House of Helvetia. Our fan meet-and-greets resume on Monday May 12 and end on May 17.
