They’re one the most successful countries at Junior Eurovision with three victories. And for their 18th appearance, Georgia is hoping to continue its winning tradition with Andria Putkaradze and “To My Mom”.

Georgia in Junior Eurovision 2024: Andria Putkaradze with “To My Mom”

Andria earned the honour of representing Georgia in this year’s contest after winning Ranina, the beloved children’s talent show that has served as Georgia’s selection process for Junior Eurovision for several years.

The young singer was born in the scenic Black Sea city of Batumi, Georgia, and showcased a love for music from an early age. Starting at two, he joined the vocal ensemble Children of the Sea, and later studied piano at the Zakaria Paliashvili Music School.

He’s already an accomplished musician, with his victory on Ranina being a major milestone. When not performing, Andria enjoys spending time with friends and playing PlayStation.

What do the “To My Mom” lyrics mean?

The song “To My Mom”, written by famed Georgian composer Giga Kukhianidze with Maka Davitaia, is a heartfelt tribute to mothers and the deep bond between mother and child. Giga Kukhianidze is no stranger to Junior Eurovision; he has crafted thirteen of Georgia’s seventeen entries, and once again brings his lyrical artistry to the stage.

With poetic lyrics sung in Georgian, the ballad is an emotional expression of love and gratitude. Andria’s powerful vocals are complemented by a rich orchestral arrangement that evokes a sense of warmth and nostalgia, carrying a cinematic feel similar to Disney soundtracks.

The lyrics paint a tender picture of a mother’s love as a comforting, ever-present force in life. Lines like, “Your smile warmed the street, like a friend, it understands me,” underscore the intimate connection and support that only a mother can provide.

The imagery of snow and sunshine serves as a metaphor for a mother’s gentle guidance and warmth, helping to light the path through life’s journey. In a touching refrain, Andria sings, “I will sing a song for the paths adorned with song. I will come to you, I will take your hand, Mom.” It’s a promise of love and devotion, celebrating the beauty and strength of maternal love.
