Georgia in Junior Eurovision 2024: Andria Putkaradze with “To My Mom”

Andria earned the honour of representing Georgia in this year’s contest after winning Ranina, the beloved children’s talent show that has served as Georgia’s selection process for Junior Eurovision for several years.

The young singer was born in the scenic Black Sea city of Batumi, Georgia, and showcased a love for music from an early age. Starting at two, he joined the vocal ensemble Children of the Sea, and later studied piano at the Zakaria Paliashvili Music School.

He’s already an accomplished musician, with his victory on Ranina being a major milestone. When not performing, Andria enjoys spending time with friends and playing PlayStation.

What do the “To My Mom” lyrics mean?

The song “To My Mom”, written by famed Georgian composer Giga Kukhianidze with Maka Davitaia, is a heartfelt tribute to mothers and the deep bond between mother and child. Giga Kukhianidze is no stranger to Junior Eurovision; he has crafted thirteen of Georgia’s seventeen entries, and once again brings his lyrical artistry to the stage.

With poetic lyrics sung in Georgian, the ballad is an emotional expression of love and gratitude. Andria’s powerful vocals are complemented by a rich orchestral arrangement that evokes a sense of warmth and nostalgia, carrying a cinematic feel similar to Disney soundtracks.

The lyrics paint a tender picture of a mother’s love as a comforting, ever-present force in life. Lines like, “Your smile warmed the street, like a friend, it understands me,” underscore the intimate connection and support that only a mother can provide.

The imagery of snow and sunshine serves as a metaphor for a mother’s gentle guidance and warmth, helping to light the path through life’s journey. In a touching refrain, Andria sings, “I will sing a song for the paths adorned with song. I will come to you, I will take your hand, Mom.” It’s a promise of love and devotion, celebrating the beauty and strength of maternal love.

English translation

A street as beautiful as spring
A path as lovely as spring
The sunny love seems never-ending
The sky smiles peacefully at me

My heart races and beats without rhythm
I hurry, I hurry to stretch time
With your smile

It snows beautifully with a smile
In my heart, it snows elegantly
The sun quietly smiles
And gently caresses the snow

Shadows appear on the empty street
The sun plays like a carefree child
Your smile warmed the street
Like a friend, it understands me

Like a friend, it will embrace my heart
It will smile at me and spread its wings
Together we’ll draw the paths

It snows pinkly
In my heart, it snows with love
The sun quietly smiles
And tenderly caresses the snow

I will sing a song for the paths adorned with song
I will come to you
I will take your hand, Mom

You are only mine, Mom
