Albania at Junior Eurovision 2024: Nikol Çabeli with “Vallëzoj”

Posted on 29 October 2024 By Admin No Comments on Albania at Junior Eurovision 2024: Nikol Çabeli with “Vallëzoj”

After climbing into the top ten for only the second time, Albania are hoping to build on last year’s good result and keep the momentum going for their tenth appearance at Junior Eurovision in 2024. Waving the flag is Nikol Çabeli, who will be performing the song “Vallëzoj” (“Dance”).

Albania in Junior Eurovision 2024: Nikol Çabeli with “Vallëzoj”

Nikol was born in the Greek city of Ioannina but soon moved to Gjirokastër in southern Albania, where she was raised.

Music is one of her biggest passions and Nikol can often be found writing her own music. She also plays both the piano and drums.

She’s pursued this passion further by participating in a number of singing contests: becoming a finalist in the show Little Genius 8, and taking the gold medal at the Children’s Festival in Shkodër with her song “Coco Im.”

Junior Eurovision has long been another contest that Nikol has aimed to tick off. She was very close to making it in 2023, finishing as the runner-up in Albania’s national selection, Junior Fest, with “Vetëm unë.” Nikol developed her skills and returned in 2024, ultimately going one step further and winning the chance to perform in Madrid on 16 November.

What do the “Vallëzoj” lyrics mean?

Through her Junior Eurovision entry, Nikol has decided to highlight the importance of protecting nature. The young singer begins the song by imagining a world without any plants or flowers:

How would we all live?
Without enjoying the pleasure
This world would be without colours
Without the love we seek

She realises that a lack of flora in our lives would be a disaster for us all and throw the ecosystem off balance. Therefore, Nikol urges us to take care of the natural environment around us:

No! No! Do not step on them!
Plants, flowers
They speak to us

Although the lyrics have a serious tone, they also have an element of hope and joy running through them — after all, the song is titled “Vallëzoj” (“Dance”). Nikol twirls and frolics in the fields, enjoying all that Earth’s nature has to offer:

I dance, I dance
With a flower in my hand
Just to say I want
Let’s protect our nature

Albanian text

Jetën mendoja një ditë
Sikur asgjë të mos kish
Lule mos kish në këtë botë
As dhe një bimë në këtë tokë

Si do jetonim të gjithë?
Pa e shijuar kënaqësinë
Pa ngjyra do ish kjo botë
Pa dashurinë që kërkojmë

Jo! Jo! Mos prek!
Bimët, lulet
Kanë jetë

Jo! Jo! Mos shkel!
Bimët, lulja
Na flet

Vallëzoj, unë vallëzoj
Me një lule në dorë
Dua, unë dua
Natyrën ta mbrojmë

Vallëzoj

Jo! Jo! Mos prek!
Bimët, lulet
Kanë jetë

Jo! Jo! Mos shkel!
Bimët, lulja
Na flet

Vallëzoj, unë vallëzoj
Me një lule në dorë
Dua, unë dua
Natyrën ta mbrojmë

Vallëzoj, unë vallëzoj
Me një lule në dorë
Dua, unë dua
Natyrën ta mbrojmë

Vallëzoj

English translation

I thought about life one day
As if you had nothing
No flowers in this world
Not even a plant on this earth

How would we all live?
Without enjoying the pleasure
This world would be without colours
Without the love we seek

No! No! Don’t touch them!
Plants, flowers
Have lives

No! No! Do not step on them!
Plants, flowers
They speak to us

I dance, I dance
With a flower in my hand
Just to say I want
Let’s protect our nature

I dance

No! No! Don’t touch them!
Plants, flowers
Have lives

No! No! Do not step on them!
Plants, flowers
They speak to us

I dance, I dance
With a flower in my hand
Just to say I want
Let’s protect our nature

I dance, I dance
With a flower in my hand
Just to say I want
Let’s protect our nature

I dance
