“Why not?” — Piqued Jacks discuss potential Eurovision return amidst ongoing touring schedule

Posted on 8 September 2023 By Admin No Comments on “Why not?” — Piqued Jacks discuss potential Eurovision return amidst ongoing touring schedule

Piqued Jacks, the Italian band who represented San Marino at Eurovision 2023, have been focused on concerts and tours recently. And on August 26th, they performed at the Focus in The Park Festival in Sibiu, Romania.

Following their concert, they sat down for a discussion with us about their life after Eurovision, shared some of their future plans, and commented on whether they’d ever consider returning to the contest.

Piqued Jacks interview on possible Eurovision return

As the lyrics of their song “Sunflower” suggest, Piqued Jacks “love where they’re heading.” After Eurovision, the band has been busy planning numerous concerts, including opening for legendary British rock band The Who and American guitarist Tom Morello during the Firenze Rock Festival in June. Eurovision provided the band with a great opportunity to gain even more international recognition.

Recalling some of their best Eurovision memories, the band mentioned their participation in the Eurovision pre-parties. They enjoyed traveling together with artists from other competing countries and having fun without the pressure of rehearsals and competition. It’s no secret that many Eurovision 2023 artists befriended Piqued Jacks during their Eurovision journey. The band confirmed they still keep in touch with these artists as much as possible, despite everyone’s busy schedules.

The band expressed a desire to meet their fellow Eurovision 2023 artists again in the future, naming a few of them, such as Alika (Estonia), Joker Out (Slovenia), Monika Linkytė (Lithuania), Wild Youth (Ireland), Vesna (Czech Republic), and Alessandra (Norway). There’s one act they’ll definitely be reuniting with this month — Piqued Jacks will be opening for Sudden Lights (Latvia) at a concert in Riga on September 16th.

During the interview, we had the chance to learn more about the members’ stage names, all of which were selected by Francesco. He wanted everyone to have a stage name like famous rock stars, such as Slash (Guns N’ Roses).

E-King (Andrea) was chosen because in Italian, “e” is a conjunction that means “and,” whilst the Italian word for “king” is “re.” So, by combining the English translation of the Italian conjunction “e” with the Italian translation of the English word “king,” the result is “And-re,” which is similar to Andrea.

Majic-O (Marco), pronounced as “magico” (meaning “magical” in Italian), is derived from a stylization of Marco’s name. Marco is also the one who “works magic in the band,” heavily involved in the production process.

Littleladle (Francesco) is the translation of another nickname that Francesco already had in Italian. Holy Hargot (Tommaso) gets his name “Holy” from his last name, which is “OLI(veri)”, even though the band members jokingly confess that he’s the “least holy guy in the band”.

Another important thing to know is that new music is coming very soon from Piqued Jacks, so get ready for a brand-new single.

When the members were asked to choose their number one picks from their discography, Francesco selected “Sunflower,” Tommaso chose their Eurovision entry “Like an Animal,” and both Andrea and Marco mentioned that their favourite Piqued Jacks song is their upcoming one. This only adds to our excitement about listening to it.

When asked about the possibility of returning for a second participation in Eurovision, the band answered, “Why not?”. They described the contest as one of their best experiences so far. The band is willing to keep in touch with everything Eurovision related, expressing their gratitude to the community for their support.

They also aim to meet as many Eurovision fans as possible during their concerts, having recently added some new dates to their tour. The next countries where you can catch Piqued Jacks this fall are Latvia, the UK, Germany, and Poland. However, the concert poster includes the mention of “more to be announced”, so keep your eyes peeled for further updates.

What are your thoughts on a Piqued Jacks second Eurovision participation? In which cities would you like to see Piqued Jacks on tour? Are you excited for their new single? Let us know in the comments below.
