Welcome to the Wiwi Wishlist; where we fantasizse about the perfect contest’s line-up.
Wiwi Wishlist: Clara Luciani for France
Clara Luciani is one of the biggest sensations in French pop music. She was born in Martigues and has both Corsican and Sicilian roots. She grew up in the suburbs of Marseille and studied history before pursuing a musical path. Before starting her music career, Clara worked various jobs, including as an English teacher and even pizza chef.
Her journey in music began in 2011 as one of the vocalists of the band La Femme. She left the group in 2013 after the release of Psycho Tropical Berlin and later formed the duo Hologram with fellow singer Maxime Sokolinski. The duo was active until 2015
Soon after, Clara joined Raphaël Haroche on his live tour in 2015 and 2016 and also had a short collaboration in 2017 with Benjamin Biolay.
After numerous collaborations, she decided to pursue a solo career. In 2017 she released her first solo EP, Monstre d’amour, produced with the help of Benjamin Lebeau from The Shoes and Ambroise Willaume from Revolver.
A year later, she released her debut studio album, Sainte-Victoire, which became a massive success and established her as a key figure in modern French pop. Two more albums followed: Cœur in 2021 and Mon sang in 2024.
Throughout her career, Clara Luciani has performed in countless concerts across France and Belgium, and even completed a successful Australian tour. She seems ready to conquer all of Europe next.
Discography must-listens: “Tout Pour Moi” (2024), “Respire Encore” (2021), “Cette Vie” (2025)
France at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025
In 2025, France was represented by Louane with the emotional ballad “maman,” dedicated to her late mother. Her vocals were moving, and the audience was impressed by a stunning stage concept featuring a “sandstorm,” in which Louane still managed to perform flawlessly. The honesty of her emotions touched both audience and especially the juries, earning her a seventh place finish in the final (with an impressive score of 180 jury points).
Looking at France’s recent Eurovision history, we can notice some consistent patterns, and most of them have been quite successful. France tends to stay loyal to its linguistic and cultural identity, proudly sending songs in French. Even when they occasionally include a few English lines, the core remains unmistakably French. The only recent exception was in 2022 with Alvan & Ahez’s “Fulenn”, performed in Breton.
Another strong trait of France’s Eurovision entries is their refusal to chase mainstream trends. Instead, they focus on authenticity, showcasing French culture through dramatic ballads, chanson-inspired compositions, or elegant pop tracks. This approach has brought some good results: Louane’s top 10 placement last year, Slimane’s fourth place in 2024 with “Mon amour”, and Barbara Pravi’s second place in 2021 with “Voilà”.
Given Clara Luciani’s success in the French charts and her ability to blend modern pop with retro and dance elements, she would be a perfect future representative. She is a versatile artist and she has a fantastic stage presence. All these could qualify her as a perfect potential pick for France.
So Clara Luciani is our dream pick for France, but who would yours be? Who would you love to see take to the stage in Vienna in May 2026? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
