New music this week (part 1): Songs from KAJ, Slimane, MARO and more

Posted on 19 October 2025 By Admin No Comments on New music this week (part 1): Songs from KAJ, Slimane, MARO and more

Although we’re officially into the Eurovision 2026 season, it will still be some time before we hear any national final and Eurovision songs. Thankfully, the music will always continue and a number of Eurovision artists are still producing new songs for us to enjoy.

Contrary to the commonly perpetuated myth about the song contest killing careers, we’re always thrilled to report that singers associated with Eurovision are thriving.

Here is our latest weekly roundup with a selection of the songs released recently by Eurovision stars.

New music from Eurovision artists: 2025 | Week 42 part 1

With so many new songs this week, we’ve split the roundup into two smaller articles. You can find part 2 here.

KAJ – “Karaoke”

KAJ had everyone singing along in the sauna at Eurovision earlier this year. Now, they’re doing much the same with their newest song, “Karaoke.” It’s a feel-good pop anthem that encourages us to let go and unleash our inner superstar. The trio even recommend belting out a couple of Eurovision hits: “Sing kara-karaoke / Give me all you can / Sing with your heart in your hand / More hard rock hallelujah / Stad i ljus and dancing queen.”

Sam Ryder – Heartland

Sam Ryder has put his Heartland into this sophomore studio album. Featuring 13 songs, the LP lets the Eurovision 2022 runner-up share the emotional journey he’s experienced over the past couple of years. Ryder weaves through these stories with his soulful voice whilst blending elements of indie, pop and glam rock. In a post on Instagram, the British star wrote more about the writing process:

“The creation of this album came along at a time where my light felt like it was dimming the most. I hauled myself and my family over to Nashville, pitched up at our log cabin in the trees, and started writing it out with friends surrounding me. It’s an emotional experience hearing it back, each song a chapter of the year and a half it took to create, marking pivotal moments of transformation and change in my life. One thing has stayed constant throughout though – a thread of hope keeping this project alive and my head above water. I hope these songs bring you the peace they were crafted with, and that you take them on your next chapters.”

Slimane – “Mieux que moi”

Following a challenging year for Slimane, the French singer is making a return to music. The Eurovision 2024 star uses his new emotional chanson, “Mieux que moi” (“Better than me”), as a mea culpa to account for his mistakes and seek forgiveness:

“It’s weird to tell myself that I was probably completely wrong/ It’s not easy to say but in my heart it’s never beautiful […] I’ve been looking for a little peace in the pain all my life […] I just had to love myself but it was so difficult […] This time I’m not going to give up on myself.”

TEYA & Goldielocks – “My Religion”

We’re always praying for iconic Eurovision-related collaborations, and now those calls have been answered. Austria’s 2023 contestant, TEYA, has joined forces with Goldielocks, a fan-favourite at Finland’s UMK this year.

The pair have shared the pop track “My Religion.” TEYA and Goldielocks sing of how they’ve heard the call to worship a very special being: “I’m the sinner, baby, you’re my preacher, uh uh / Only you my God, you’re my religion, uh uh / Bruising both my knees, baby I need you.”

MARO – “I OWE IT TO YOU”

MARO is entering her next musical era, having announced her next studio album is coming in January. The first single from the LP is “I OWE IT TO YOU,” which MARO dedicated to her mum as a thanks for the unconditional love she has provided: “Whatever I do, whatever I say / Whatever may come my way / I owe it to you / You taught me to love / As long as I live, I owe it to you.”

It might be the start of a new chapter, but Portugal’s Eurovision 2022 star retains the chilled and atmospheric vibes her fans love.

Tamta – “OOH AHH”

You’ll be screaming “OOH AHH” by the end of Tamta’s new record. The Eurovision 2019 star serves up a catchy pop offering that strays into alternative sounds for its conclusion. Lyrically, Tamta sings to her lover in hopes of sparking a flame: “Look me in the eyes / And give me love / I want lots of caresses / To ignite my desire / But slower, speak a little slower / I want to listen to your every word madly.”

Sergio Dalma – “Parole, Parole”

Sergio Dalma (Eurovision 1991) is bringing a taste of Italy with his upcoming album, in which he’s re-interpreting Italian hits that also made it big in his homeland, Spain. The sophomore single from the record is “Parole, Parole” — first released by Mia Mazzini, Italy’s best-selling female artist of all time.

DJ Bobo – “Sombrero”

DJ Bobo is heading back on tour next year with his new show The Great Adventure. This adventure is seemingly taking him to Mexico, where the Eurovision 2007 alum is loving the local fashion. In the lyrics of this latest song, DJ Bobo randomly calls out “Sombrero” whilst singing/rapping about partying all night long: “Want to see you shake it all through the night / Sombrero, sombrero / Want to hear your voices all through the night / Una pasión.”

Sarius feat. Ochman & BLAGA – “POKOLENIE”

Polish rapper Sarius has released the new single “POKOLENIE” (“Generation”). Produced by BLAGA, the song also features a sung chorus by Eurovision 2022 participant Ochman: “I want to get to know my entire generation / I want to know if it’s just me? / This fucking unfulfillment lies dormant / I won’t sleep in my role anymore.”

The song is about how, despite getting older and taking on more responsibilities in life, we will always hold on to that younger mentality of viewing the world with curiosity.

Maraaya – “Kdo si ti?”

“Kdo si ti?” (“Who are you?”), ask Maraaya. The Slovenian duo are questioning why someone felt they had the right to hurt them. But despite this attempt to tear them down, Marjetka and Aleš are ready to come out of the situation stronger: “You can cut my branches again / When I am a tall tree / But don’t forget that the roots / Are hidden deep in the ground […] I proudly raise my head.”

Writing about this latest single, the Eurovision 2015 alumni noted:

“This song speaks for itself. It’s here to find you when you’re down. It’s here to offer you a shoulder, and most of all, to heal your heart when it hurts the most. We send it into the world with love, to heal the pain of those who need it.”

Mia Dimšić feat. Tomislav Bralić & Klapa Intrade – “Nemoj noći brzo proći”

Eurovision 2022 entrant, Mia Dimšić, is encouraging everyone to not let life pass them by. Singing alongside a tamburitza, the Croatian star suggests we spend as much time as possible with our loved ones: “Don’t let the nights pass quickly, don’t let the dawn come quickly / Tonight I and my gold count the stars as two.”

Dimšić is joined by Tomislav Bralić and his vocal group Klapa Intrade for “Nemoj noći brzo proći (“Don’t let the nights pass quickly”).

Rui Bandeira – “Quero Essa Mulher”

Rui Bandeira is a man who knows exactly what he wants — a special woman. Portugal’s act for Eurovision 1999 has his sights set on one particular person who has his heart fluttering: “She dances in my chest, gives me pleasure / I want this woman / She arrives like the wind, I know well who she is / I want this woman / These eyes speak of both of us / I won’t lose you.”

Musically, “Quero Essa Mulher” (“I Want This Woman”) blends flamenco beats and brassy accompaniment.

Citi Zēni – “Smalkais Stils”

“What’s old for one / Is style for another / What’s a doghouse for one / Is a castle for another.”

Everyone has those prized possessions that sit in a corner of the house collecting dust but your dare not throw out. Citi Zēni explore this in their new single “Smalkais Stils” (“Fine Style”), focusing on the dining utensils that only come out for special holidays. Latvia’s Eurovision 2022 group explain more in the music video’s description:

“We grew up in homes where, from time to time, both our parents and grandparents would still have the urge to hoard, hide or store things. It is only natural that we have inherited some of this knowledge of life. The desire for something better than what is currently available to us is a human and at the same time – an incomprehensible phenomenon.”

Käärijä – “Unihiekkaa”

Another episode of Vain elämää aired this week — a Finnish TV show where artists perform covers of each other’s songs. This time, the focus was on Mikki Kauste, the lead singer of pop band Egotrippi. For his contribution to the latest show, Eurovision 2023 runner-up Käärijä recreated the band’s hit “Unihiekkaa.” Käärijä ups the tempo of the track and gives it an energetic punk-pop twist.

Albina Kelmendi & Bes Kallaku – “Nane e Babe”

Family has always been an important thing for Albina Kelmendi — she even performed with them at Eurovision 2023. Now, alongside rapper Bes Kallaku, the Albanian singer is dedicating a new song to her “Nane e Babe” (Mum and Dad”), who provide a love that has no boundaries, nor comparison: “You could give someone the world, and still they wouldn’t see / But to your parents’ eyes — the world is you, simply.”

You can watch the accompanying music video here.
