Greece: ERT reveals three-show national selection with up to 28 songs

Greece is going BIG. On Wednesday the Greek broadcaster ERT revealed that it will expand its national final to include three shows. Full press release below.

Greece: ERT reveals three-show national selection with “up to 28 songs”

Greek broadcaster ERT has announced that the process of selecting the artist and song that will represent the country at the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest will take place in an upgraded and open format, consisting of two semifinals and one National Final. This decision builds on the success of last January’s National Final, Greece’s outstanding 6th place at Eurovision 2025, and the record-breaking TV viewership of the past 15 years.

Details of the process:

Participants: A maximum of 28 songs will compete for the chance to represent Greece at Eurovision 2026, which will be held in Austria in May.

Semifinals: These 28 entries will be split and compete in two semifinals.

National Final: 14 songs, chosen solely by public vote from the semifinals, will advance to the National Final.

Winner Selection: The winning artist/song in the National Final will be determined by both the public vote and a professional jury.

This marks the first time in Greek Eurovision history that three competitive nights will be held to select the country’s entry. The format aims to give more artists the opportunity to participate, showcase more music, and promote contemporary Greek music production on a broader scale.

Application Details:

Submissions open today, September 17, 2025, and will remain open until Sunday, November 2, 2025, at 23:59, exclusively in electronic form.

The detailed terms of participation and the application form can be found on ERT’s official website.
