Fire Saga on Broadway: Will Ferrell’s Eurovision Netflix movie to be adapted into a musical

Posted on 7 June 2025 By Admin No Comments on Fire Saga on Broadway: Will Ferrell’s Eurovision Netflix movie to be adapted into a musical

What’s better than playing “Ja Ja Ding Dong” on repeat? Seeing it come to life on stage, of course.

Will Ferrell, one of America’s most prominent Eurovision fans (and a talented comedic actor in his own right), is bringing his beloved 2020 Netflix movie, Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga, to the glittering stages of Broadway in the United States.

As Ferrell describes, “We are more than excited to bring Eurovision to Broadway. The stage musical is a perfect place to continue our celebration of all the things we love about this amazing and unifying song competition.”

Ferrell’s Eurovision Netflix movie collaborators to develop Broadway musical

Ferrell is joining forces with Harper Steele, his co-collaborator on the Netflix movie, to adapt Fire Saga into a musical production. Alex Timbers, an award-winning theater director who is no stranger to Broadway (he won a Tony Award for his work on Moulin Rouge! The Musical), will serve as the director. Savan Kotecha, the movie’s executive music producer, who has written tracks for popstars such as Ariana Grande and The Weeknd, is also getting back in on the fun to oversee the production’s music.

Martin Green, Director of the Eurovision Song Contest, fully supports Ferrell’s endeavor. He sees this as a great opportunity to continue expanding the Eurovision brand stateside: “This is a stellar team for what I am sure will be an equally stellar adaption of a film the world loved. Our aim always is to bring the joy of the Eurovision Song Contest to more people globally – especially as we approach our 70th edition in 2026.”

While no production timeline has been announced yet and many questions remain (will the giant hamster wheel return? Can wiwibloggs’ very own William make another cameo?), one thing is non-negotiable for fans: “Play Ja Ja Ding Dong!”

Will you be getting tickets to see Eurovision on Broadway? Which song are you most excited to see as a musical adaptation? Let us know in the comments below.
