New music this week (part 2): Songs from Nemo, Marina Satti, Ermal Meta and more

Posted on 27 April 2025 By Admin No Comments on New music this week (part 2): Songs from Nemo, Marina Satti, Ermal Meta and more

The Eurovision 2025 season is now in full swing and no doubt fans will have the songs from this year’s contest on repeat until we crown a winner in May. But that doesn’t mean we forget about the artists from past contests – they’re still bringing us a lot of new music to enjoy.

Contrary to the commonly perpetuated myth about the song contest killing careers, we’re always thrilled to report that singers associated with Eurovision are thriving.

Here is our latest weekly roundup with a selection of the songs released recently by Eurovision stars.

New music from Eurovision artists: 2025 | Week 17 part 2

With so many new songs this week, we’ve split the roundup into two smaller articles. You can find part 1 here.

Nemo – “Casanova”

We’re kicking off this second part with a brand-new song courtesy of last year’s Eurovision winner from Switzerland, Nemo. With their upcoming performance expected in Basel, this latest release appears to be the highly anticipated track they’ll perform. The song features a modern, groovy pop-rock vibe, and Nemo’s vocals glide effortlessly—perfectly suited for this laid-back radio-friendly hit, just as chill as the accompanying visualiser.

“You don’t have to go chase me / You know I come back every time / Cut the light / Read my mind / Yeah you know what to do,” the lyrics speak of being in love with a Casanova and feeling so drawn in by that love that there’s no need to be pursued—you always end up coming back.

Elena – “Voodoo”

Elena represented Romania in 2008. A versatile artist, she continues to explore different musical styles, and this week she takes a brand-new direction—leaning into a Balkan sound with various traditional influences. The song is about feeling like you’re under a spell cast by someone who lives rent-free in your mind—someone you can’t get over, and truthfully, don’t want to: “Feels like you did some voodoo on me / So you’d be the only one who loves me.”

Marina Satti – POP TOO

Marina, who represented Greece in Eurovision last year, just dropped a 10-track album—fully in Greek. The album blends pop, electronic, indie, trap, and hip-hop into a delightful mix that feels fresh and bold. On the album, Marina teams up with Saske on “Ela Ela”, Locomondo on “Kavourakia”, Negros Tou Moria on “Bye Bye”, and Tso on “Pop (All the Voices in My Head)”. This is set to be the soundtrack of the summer—Greece’s version of Brat.

Alongside the album release, Marina also unveiled a music video for her track “LOLA.” In it, she steps into the persona of Lola to parody fame and the world of celebrity culture. A standout quote from the video—”Cheers to Lola! Without her, we’d have nothing to talk about”—delivers sharp commentary on the obsession with celebrity drama and the cost of living in the spotlight.

Ermal Meta – “Ferma gli Orologi”

Ermal, who represented Italy in 2018 alongside Fabrizio Moro, is back this week with a love song that feels like it could stop time. The track, titled “Stop the Clocks,” has a summery, feel-good sound that’s guaranteed to get you dancing. The music video tells a story of falling in love and the struggle to express those feelings—a theme that fits perfectly with Ermal’s poetic style.

As always, his lyrics are full of emotion, capturing the magic of love at first sight and the idea that if it’s meant to be, love will always find its way: “You are like a sea that floods my head / All evening I just look at you / I just wanted to dance with you / You just wanted to dance with me.”

Charlotte Perrelli & Johnny Logan feat. Åsa Jinder – “Have I Told You Lately”

The next song is for all the ballad lovers out there—and this one, as powerful as it is, also celebrates diversity in a beautiful way. It brings together three Eurovision winners from different countries, uniting their talents on one stunning track. Charlotte, who represented Sweden twice—winning in 1999 and returning in 2008—joins forces with Johnny Logan, the legendary Irish artist who won the contest in both 1980 and 1987. They’re accompanied by Åsa, who played the nyckelharpa for Secret Garden, the group that won for Norway in 1995. Their new ballad showcases soaring vocals and a breath-taking nyckelharpa solo, resulting in a dreamy, emotional piece that truly stands out.

Diodato – “Non ci credo più”

Diodato, who won Festival di Sanremo in 2020 and was set to represent Italy at Eurovision that same year before it was cancelled due to the pandemic, returns this week with more than just a song—it’s a powerful musical manifesto titled “I Don’t Believe It Anymore.”

The track feels like an anthem, a bold cry against the injustices of our time. It takes a firm stand against brainwashing, misinformation, and especially the horrors of war:  “I don’t believe it anymore / In those who tell me it’s a holy war / In those who tell me it’s a just war / In those who say war is war / And then anything goes, everyone down on the ground / In those who tell me that beyond the border / I’ll always be a stranger / And if you want to be with the righteous / You mustn’t think, just follow the path.”

About the powerful message behind his song, Diodato said:

“If today, April 25, 2025, I have the opportunity to release a song like ‘Non ci credo più’, if I can express my dissent, my anger, my fears, my ideas, manifest them clearly, I owe it to the sacrifice of those who fought for resistance, for democracy, for justice and for freedom. I owe it to those who have done it in these years and continue to do so every day because they are aware of how fragile all of this is. Therefore, thanks to those who will make their voices heard, you will always have me by your side. Thanks to those who, with their work, have tried to amplify the message of this small act of resistance of mine.”

Douwe Bob – “Funny”

Douwe, who represented the Netherlands at Eurovision in 2016, is back this week with an optimistic, feel-good track that’s all about unwinding. The song captures the vibe of a laid-back Friday afternoon—when the stress of a long work week starts to melt away and you finally begin to feel like yourself again.

It’s light-hearted, fun, and genuinely entertaining. The music video adds an extra layer of charm, featuring an adorable fluffy friend as one of the stars. The song’s motto? “Life’s way too short to work this hard”—a cheerful reminder to slow down and enjoy the moment.

AISEL – “Həyatdır” with Orkhan Zeynalli & “İnsan-i Kamil” with Kamran Ağabalayev & SAYBU

AISEL, who represented Azerbaijan at Eurovision in 2018, returns this week with two new collaborations. The first is with Orkhan Zeynalli—a ballad where AISEL impresses not just with her vocals but also with her rapping skills. The song is paired with a cinematic music video full of unexpected plot twists, telling a story about choosing to leave someone for their own good. Titled “That’s Life,” the track reflects on how life often puts us in front of difficult choices and heartbreaks: “That’s life, sometimes it takes the one you love the most from you / That’s life, every belief leaves a scar / That’s life, everyone thinks he is the purest person / That’s life, who said it was so easy?”

The second release is a collaboration with Kamran Ağabalayev and SAYBU. Titled “Perfect Man,” this song dives into a more authentic, traditional sound. It tells the story of falling for someone who seems like trouble, yet whose love is too intoxicating to resist: “A person in so much trouble / Why don’t you play? (…) I drink the wine of love from sorrow / It challenges me when I am in trouble.” The lyrics further question whether finding such a complicated man is destiny (God’s will) —or simply a fall into temptation.

Kristína – “Rúž Hrebeň a Fén”

Kristína, who represented Slovakia at Eurovision in 2010, is back with a brand-new track bursting with energy and good vibes. Titled “Lipstick, Comb and Hair Dryer,” the song is the perfect get-ready anthem—a true confidence booster that makes you feel beautiful just by listening to it. With its addictive, girly pop sound and a music video full of contagious, feel-good energy, this release is pure fun from start to finish.

Emmelie de Forest – Into the Moon

Emmelie, who won Eurovision for Denmark in 2013, has just released her highly anticipated new album. Fans had been eagerly awaiting the project after being teased with a few singles in recent months. Emmelie spent over two years working on this record, and she shares that, at this moment, her personal favourite is “Delete.”

The album features 14 tracks, including a prelude, an interlude, and a finale. It’s a beautiful collection of indie pop songs that weave together themes of sadness and love. With a slightly dramatic and cinematic sound, Emmelie taps into her inner Lana Del Rey, delivering songs full of depth, vulnerability, and emotional richness.

Marius Bear – “When We Get There We’ll Know”

Marius Bear, who represented Switzerland at Eurovision in 2022, returns with a heartfelt ballad that perfectly showcases his warm, embracing voice. This is the kind of song that makes you pause, sit down, and truly listen.

According to Marius, his latest track is about letting go of a loved one—but doing so with gratitude and hope, holding onto the belief that one day, you’ll meet again.

Sarah Bonnici – “IS THIS HOW IT ENDS?”

Sarah, who represented Malta at Eurovision last year, has just released what she calls her favourite song to date. It’s a highly anticipated track, especially after fans first heard it live during MESC earlier this year.

Unlike her previous releases, this song is a heartbreak anthem—a ballad packed with raw emotion and powerful, standout vocals. The music video pulls you even deeper into the emotional whirlwind, capturing the struggle of moving on from someone who left a lasting mark.

Timebelle – “Monosyllabic”

Timebelle, the trio from Switzerland who represented their country at Eurovision in 2017, is back with a track that has all the makings of a pop radio hit. With the stunning vocals of their Romanian lead singer Runa taking centre stage, the song is a heartfelt journey about wanting to turn back time—to heal a broken heart and to relearn how to love and be loved. Definitely one to keep on repeat.

Anna Rossinelli – “Heat”

Also from Switzerland, we have Anna Rossinelli, who competed at Eurovision in 2011. Her latest release offers the first glimpse of an upcoming album, set to drop this autumn.

The track is a vibrant country-pop song all about the desire to “feel the heat,” to live life to the fullest, and to embrace happiness unapologetically. It’s an infectious burst of energy, with an addictive sound that’s sure to get you moving.

Hooverphonic & Barbara Dex

This week brings us two more exciting releases from Belgium, offering fresh interpretations from the show Liefde voor Muziek. Once again, we hear from Hooverphonic—who performed in 2021—and from Barbara Dex—who competed for Belgium back in 1993. This week’s spotlight on the show was Belgian singer Luc Steeno, whose songs were covered by the artists.

When it comes to Hooverphonic, Alex Callier admitted he was initially concerned about covering Luc’s work, as the styles are quite different. However, it turned out easier than expected—they chose “Ga Dan,” a song from 1993 that ended up fitting perfectly with Hooverphonic’s vibe. Interestingly, “Ga Dan” is itself a cover, originally based on South African-German singer Howard Carpendale’s hit “Dann geh doch.” Hooverphonic transformed it by changing it into English and adding their signature dramatic, cinematic sound—what Alex Callier often describes as “soundtracks for movies that don’t exist.”

On the other hand, Barbara Dex took a completely different route with her cover, delivering a purely joyful and uplifting track. She chose the 1999 Dutch-language song “Geen Vreemde Meer.” Barbara also opted to switch the song into English, infusing it with her warm vocals and vibrant charisma, making the new version even more energetic and uplifting than the original.

Which of these new songs is your favourite? Have we missed out on any? Do you have any artists you want to shout out to? Let us know in the comments.
