On February 1, 2025, the Ukrainian singer and songwriter Astrid Way presented her new video for the song “World of Dreams” with the support of director Ivan Chernyshev.
The song “World of Dreams” tells about the importance of maintaining inner balance and harmony between the masculine and feminine principles that are in each of us. It was an interesting and unexpectedly challenging task for the team to convey this concept on screen.
“At first, I wanted to create something in the style of my favorite Bram Stoker movie Dracula, something gothic and dark. But while working on the song, I started to feel worse and worse about this desire, and realized that the video should be light. Well, on the day of the shoot, the whole universe was just screaming at me – no vampires and no evil. It had to be a victory for good and light,” Astrid Way said.
The fact is that on the day of filming, which coincided with the autumnal equinox, the Astrid Way team faced a number of unforeseen difficulties.
Just before the start of filming, the singer’s car with the Astrid license plate suddenly broke down and boiled over, and soon exploded – a real special effects scene.
In addition, on that day, forests were burning in the suburbs, and it was hard to breathe because of the thick smoke. And when the crew finally got to the studio, the whole place was covered in thick smoke – the special effects master had overdone it, so it was hard to work on the video.
Nevertheless, despite these unforeseen obstacles, the filming did not stop, and the team created an unforgettable video full of emotions and energy.
“The concept of the video is a meeting of two parts of each person, the inner woman and man, Anima and Animus.It’s about how important it is for a person to have this inner balance between the feminine and the masculine, without which there is no sense of wholeness. Dance should be inside us,” says singer Astrid Way.
Professional dancers, including Vitaliy Pastushenko and Olena Badzym, who impress with their skills, became an important part of the video.Through dance, the artists conveyed this internal interaction between the feminine and masculine, as the thoughts of the main character performed by Astrid Way.
The music for the video was created with the participation of jazz pianist Eugene, who played an old piano, which added a special flavor to the video.
Actor Sergey Donhauser also took part in the filming, appearing as an extra and special effects master. The video was shot at the Pandora studio in Kyiv.
