Esa diva! Melody wins Benidorm Fest 2025 after topping public vote

Posted on 1 February 2025 By Admin No Comments on Esa diva! Melody wins Benidorm Fest 2025 after topping public vote

The wait is over — Benidorm Fest 2025 reached its grand finale tonight. After a week of unforgettable performances and unexpected twists, “Esa diva” singer Melody claimed her throne — quite literally with the staging — and won the festival. Next stop? Eurovision 2025 in Basel.

Melody, who sealed the deal with a fierce helicopter twirl of her hair, placed third with the jury behind Jk Bello and Daniella Blasco. But she won the public vote to push er over the line.

The show took place at the Palau Municipal d’Esports l’Illa de Benidorm, where three absolute queens guided us through the night: Eurovision 2014 star Ruth Lorenzo, alongside Paula Vázquez and Inés Hernand.

Format

Big changes are shaking up Benidorm Fest 2025! While the voting system still relies on three groups to determine the results, there’s a key update: the demoscopic vote (previously 25% of the results) has been replaced by a free app vote. Now, the final breakdown looks like this: 50% jury, 25% free app vote, and 25% televote.

For the first time ever, fans can cast their votes for free through the RTVE Play app! To participate, simply download the app on Android or iOS, sign up for an account, and you’re good to go. Need help? RTVE has a step-by-step guide available. But keep in mind — you can only vote once for free, so choose wisely!

This year, voting results remained secret during semi-final 1 and 2. Instead of revealing the exact scores, the hosts announced which acts have advanced to the final so to ensure early results don’t sway today’s votes. During tonight’s final, full scores will be available.

Running order

Last Friday, RTVE unveiled the official running order for tonight’s grand final during a special press event — featuring none other than last year’s winners, Nebulossa. The draw was conducted by Nebulossa themselves, making for a truly epic moment.

  1. Daniela Blasco – “Uh Nana”
  2. Kuve – “LOCA XTI”
  3. Mawot – “Raggio di Sole”
  4. Lachispa – “Hartita de Llorar”
  5. Mel Ömana – “I’m a Queen”
  6. J Kbello – “V.I.P.”
  7. Lucas Bun – “Te escribo en el cielo”
  8. Melody – “Esa Diva”

With only one ballad in the mix, the Benidorm Fest 2025 final is set to kick off on a high-energy note. Daniela Blasco will open the show with her infectious dance anthem “Uh Nana”, a track that’s sure to get stuck in everyone’s head. Daniela Blasco’s “Uh Nana” currently sits at the top spot as the most viral song on Spotify Spain.

Closing the night in the highly anticipated final slot is none other than Melody, a seasoned performer and the bookmakers’ favorite to win, with her powerful entry “Esa Diva”.

Meanwhile, our reader’s fan-favorite Lachispa, will take the stage fourth, ready to deliver a standout performance. And keep an eye on J Kbello — with growing momentum, he’s emerging as Melody’s biggest rival for the trophy and will perform sixth in the lineup.

Jury

RTVE unveiled this year’s panel back in January. With members from Spain, Ukraine, and the Netherlands, there’s no shortage of diversity in the mix. Here’s the full line-up:

  • Roberto Santamaría (Spain) – Serving as this year’s jury spokesperson, he is the current director of Radio Nacional de España.
  • Javier Llano (Spain) – A recognised journalist with over 25 years of experience.
  • Jaime Acero (Spain) – A TV producer with a broad career spanning both Spain and international markets.
  • Claudia Orellana (Spain) – A music event coordinator with experience working alongside international artists.
  • Oksana Skybinska (Ukraine) – Head of Delegation for Ukraine at Eurovision.
  • Twan van de Nieuwenhuijzen (the Netherlands) – Responsible in entertainment and music events at NPO (Nederlandse Publieke Omroep).
  • Mariangela Borneo (Italy) – Director of International Projects and Festivals at RAI since 2011.
  • Maja Tokic (Croatia) – Musical executive producer and of DORA (Croatia’s own Eurovision selection process).
