The Eurovision 2025 season is beginning to heat up. Over the course of the next few months, we will all fall in and out of love with scores of new national final and Eurovision entries. But that doesn’t mean we forget about the artists from past contests.
Contrary to the commonly perpetuated myth about the song contest killing careers, we’re always thrilled to report that singers associated with Eurovision are thriving.
Here is our latest weekly roundup with a selection of the songs released recently by Eurovision stars.
New music from Eurovision artists: 2025 | Week 1
Francesco Gabbani – “Vengo a Fidarmi di te”
We start this week with a song that delivers a powerful message, coming straight from Italy’s Francesco, who represented his country in 2017. The new track is called “I Come to Trust You,” and it’s an Italian pop track that incorporates the dance elements typically found in Francesco’s music, including some slight retro vibes. The song comes with a lyric video, which is essential considering the accent on the message.
The song begins by posing existential questions about life: “How many years does it take for a child to become a man?/ To learn quiet and abandon?/ And how many steps does it take for a road of life in procession/ To become a goal and a direction?” These lines set the tone for a reflection on how life has become increasingly fake and complicated, where ideals like “Liberté, Égalité, Fraternité” (Liberty, Equality, Fraternity — the national motto of France) are no longer upheld.
In a world that often feels scary and chaotic, it becomes hard to trust. Yet, amidst this despair, the song finds hope in the discovery of someone who brings meaning and trust: “And in this silence that’s scary/ That speaks in silence, that consumes us/ And in this wealth dressed nakedness/ I come to trust you.”
Hadise – “Gecenin En Köründe”
Hadise, who represented Turkey in 2009, is back with “In the Dead of Night,” a powerful love ballad that serves as the soundtrack for the Turkish series Esas Oğlan (Main Boy), where Hadise plays one of the main roles. The music video for her newest song features scenes from the series, which revolves around two women, both unlucky in love, teaming up to find “Mr. Right.”
The lyrics of the song reflect the pain of a love falling apart, centered on a man who repeatedly cancels plans, leaving behind only a small, bittersweet memory: “How many times have I tried, all plans are always cancelled/ No signal/ A button from his shirt remained in my hand/ In the dead of night.”
The song was written before Hadise was cast in the series, but she found it perfectly suited for her character and decided to use it as the soundtrack. While the song delves into consuming inner sadness, Hadise dedicated it to everyone unable to experience the love they long for.
Ermal Meta – Il Campione
Also from Italy, we have a new song from Ermal Meta, who competed in 2018, back then alongside Fabrizio Moro. The song is called “The Champion,” an Italian pop ballad that showcases Ermal’s incredible voice and features a studio music video. The track is elevated by the addition of violins, which enrich the instrumental with beautiful strings.
The track is a powerful and nostalgic love ballad that delves into various themes, starting with the passage of time and the feeling of loneliness: “I just wanted to talk to you/ And tell you that maybe we were wrong/ That deep down we feel the same fear/ Of being alone/ From tomorrow I’ll be a little older.” These lyrics refer to the melancholic realisation of growing older and drifting apart.
The song also emphasises the importance of living in the moment and expressing genuine emotions, rather than faking happiness and bringing a façade of joy while hiding deeper sadness: “Tell me no, tell me no/ That we are not two collectors/ Of happy photos with sad eyes.”
Ermal also reflects on the power of music, acknowledging how songs may seem powerless at first glance, yet carry lasting messages and memories: “And maybe it’s true, you know/ That all these songs, they will never save us/ We will sing them, yes/ Louder, as you know/ To lose our lungs/ That we never change.”
Finally, the song confronts the pain of farewells and the sadness of saying goodbye to loved ones: “And I hate all these trains/ And even this station/ That takes people away/ In every direction.”
Miki Núñez & Laura Escanes – “Serem més forts (campanades)”
Miki, who represented Spain in 2019, is back with an optimistic new track for the year ahead, a duet with Laura Escanes titled “We Will Be Louder.” This uplifting song is a celebration of self-improvement, progress, and confidently moving forward. The lyrics inspire listeners to strive for a better version of themselves, embracing growth and resilience as they step into the future. Performed during a New Year celebration, the song radiates encouragement, hope, and happiness, setting the perfect tone for a fresh start.
Nazim feat. Amir – “En face #366”
Amir, who made France proud in 2016, has returned with a collaboration alongside fellow artist Nazim. Their new song, “In Front #366,” is a powerful ballad that reflects on the start of a new year and the hopes it brings. The lyrics carry a heartfelt plea for peace and a better future, expressing a desire for humanity to learn from its past and strive for harmony: “May peace finally teach us its laws/ May history be written in a way other than in letters of blood.” Nazim released a new song every day throughout 2024, with this being the final instalment #366.
Carola – “Min far”
Carola, the legendary Swedish singer with a storied Eurovision history, continues to captivate us. Having won the contest in 1991 and competed in 1983 and 2006, she remains a beloved figure in the history of the contest. Currently, Carola is participating in the Norwegian reality show Hver gang vi møtes (Every Time We Meet). This week, she delivered a vibrant performance of “My Father,” an energetic retro dance track that is guaranteed to get you moving.
Bonnie Tyler – “Yes I Can”
Bonnie, a true legend of British music, remains an iconic figure. While we fondly recall her participation in Eurovision 2013, she continues to inspire with new music. This week, Bonnie brings optimism to the start of the year with a bright and uplifting new song. Accompanied by a music video that reflects on life, confidence, and resilience, the track perfectly captures Bonnie’s undeniable charisma. The empowering lyrics declare: “Yes I can/ I’m in this to win it/ Never gonna give in/ You just watch me go.”
LUM!X & jayover – “Even God”
LUM!X, who represented Austria in 2022 alongside Pia Maria, is back with a sizzling new electronic track that’s ready to set the club scene on fire. This time, LUM!X collaborates with jayover, whose vocals bring an edgy intensity to the song. The track delves into bold and provocative themes, exploring a surreal encounter with the divine in a nightclub setting: “I took too many drugs/ Met God in a club/ Said, ‘How do I get to heaven?’”
Chris Harms feat. Sven Friedrich – “Madonna Of The Night”
Chris, the lead vocalist of the German rock band Lord of the Lost, who represented Germany in 2023, continues the journey towards his debut solo album. For the next single, he teams up with fellow German rocker Sven Friedrich to deliver a track that’s a must-add for anyone who craves ’80s-infused music. The song tells the story of a captivating and enigmatic lady of the night, referring here to Madonna and her hypnotic music.
5MIINUST, Florian Wahl & Jozels – “pilates spiritual clüb”
The Estonian group 5MIINUST, who competed last year alongside Puuluup, are back with a new track in collaboration with Florian Wahl and Jozels. The song blends retro electronic vibes with rap elements, creating a club banger that’s sure to get you moving. If you’re into pilates and feeling spiritual, then join their “Pilates Spiritual Club.” The music video perfectly captures the essence of the song, telling a quirky story about pilates, stealing souls, and, of course, stealing men. The chorus features the famous line “I want you in my room/ Boom boom boom boom,” which is inspired by the classic retro hit “Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom” by Vengaboys.
Jendrik – The-German-Winter-ExP
A perfect addition for the winter season is Jendrik’s new album. Having represented Germany in 2021, he’s back with a special collection of 8 songs, all in German, crafted to offer the ultimate German winter experience, just as the album title promises. While each track transports you into his world and captures the beauty of the season, one song, “Peace,” stands out as a powerful statement advocating for unity. Jendrik’s sweet and warm voice shines through, enchanting us all with both the heartfelt ballads and uplifting tracks that fill the album.
Ben Cristovao – “omluva”
Ben was selected to represent the Czech Republic in 2021 (following the contest’s cancellation in 2020). Recently, he released “Apology,” a deeply personal ballad. Ben had doubts about whether or not he should release it. The track speaks about closing chapters, and Ben has expressed uncertainty about whether he will ever be able to perform it live, given the intense emotions the song evokes. About the track, Ben said:
“I hope you enter the new year with as light a mind as possible and let go of those who don’t belong in your life. I wrote this song inspired by the stories of my friends and also my own and I wanted something to be created that would help people close some chapters nicely. I don’t know if it served its purpose or if I ever want to sing this song live, but I’m glad it’s out.”
Sofi Marinova & Simona Zagorova – “Сърцето”
Sofi, who represented Bulgaria in Eurovision 2012, is back with a new collaboration with Simona Zagorova. Their song, “The Heart,” brings turbo-folk at its finest, blending rich traditional influences that give the track an authentic and captivating sound. The lyrics express the emotional struggle of not being able to let go of a loved one: “The heart tonight will cry for you, will drink for you.”
Samanta Tīna – “Ai, Tu manu skaļu balsi”
Samanta was Latvia’s choice at Eurovision 2021 (after a certain cancelled contest stopped her first attempt). This week she dropped “Oh, You Are My Loud Voice.” The track runs for over eight minutes and features music by Rihards Zaļupe, with lyrics drawn from Latvian folk songs that resonate deeply with Samanta’s emotions. The lyrics convey a message of patience, emphasising that good things come in time. The song speaks of waiting for happiness, even if it takes a while, because the universe is working in your favour and happiness is on its way. It also encourages listeners to follow their hearts and not the voices of others when it comes to love. About the song, Samanta said:
“The song is like a mantra to repeat to yourself, it is like a reminder that you have to learn to let go, trust, trust and do it all in love and faith, that everything will have and is destined for its time, that everything will happen when it is mastered all relevant lessons.”
Bujāns – “MĒS SPĪDAM”
We remain in Latvia with the fascinating duo Bujāns, consisting of Reinis Sējāns, who represented Latvia in 2006 as part of the group Cosmos, and Intars Busulis, who competed in 2009. The duo was formed in 2017, but fans have had to be patient as they’ve set a goal of releasing just one song per year. However, there’s some good news ahead — next year, in 2026, they plan to drop their first full album.
Their newest song, “We Shine,” comes with a hilarious music video and delivers an upbeat message about getting fit and staying active. The track emphasises the importance of supportive friends who help you stay on track with fitness goals, because the power to succeed is within each of us, we just need to unlock it. As the lyrics say: “Biceps, abs so much joy/ No one is superfluous in the temple of weights/ Here we push big things/ Here we don’t sweat – we shine!”
Eliot – INTRO
We end this week’s roundup with Eliot, who represented Belgium in 2019. He has just released his very first full album, INTRO, which serves as a gateway into his musical universe. The album features 14 songs in English, showcasing profound lyricism, raw emotions, and a soulful vibe. The album is made up of demos, and one of the highlights is the acoustic version of the song “WhatifImdead,” which offers a stripped-back, intimate rendition.
