It’s that time of year when we’re all getting into the festive spirit by preparing for Christmas and New Year. Amongst the food and presents, music often forms a big part of the holiday period.
Luckily for us, a plethora of Eurovision stars have taken time this year to release some new festive tunes that we can add to our Christmas playlists. So many in fact, we’ve split the songs into two posts.
As you gather around the tree and enjoy the holiday, here’s a selection of the new Christmas songs from Eurovision artists that will help you celebrate the yuletide.
New music from Eurovision artists: Christmas 2024 | Part 2
ISAAK – “Silent Night”
The year 2024 will certainly go down as a highlight for ISAAK. Germany’s latest Eurovision representative is now rounding things off with a cover of “Silent Night.” ISAAK showcases a softer side to his vocal ability, singing the carol in tandem with piano and acoustic guitar. The singer offers this song as a present to all those who have supported him over the past 12 years, as he notes on Instagram:
“I‘m so grateful for everything that happened to me this year. Never achieved such an amount of experiences in just one year! And all of you guys have been a huge part of it so thank you! This song is my thanks to you. Put it in your Christmas playlist, listen to it with your beloved family while unwrapping all your beautiful Christmas presents. […] I wish you much joy, peace and love for this years Christmas. Take care everybody.”
Ricchi E Poveri – “Il Natale degli Angeli”
Ricchi E Poveri are focusing on one of the side characters from the nativity story: Angels. Italy’s Eurovision 1978 representatives encourage us all to perform angelic deeds this Christmastime in the aid of inclusivity and kindness: “But I swear, on Christmas / I swear, nobody must be alone / Not even for a minute / Hug me tight because / There’s only this rule: what is it? / We shouldn’t cry nor fight. That’s fine! / They’re little miracles, magic moments / The Christmas of angels.”
Daði Freyr – How Daði Stole Christmas
Let us tell you the tale of How Daði Stole Christmas. The Eurovision 2021 star took over the festive period through his new EP. The six-track record includes his two previous self-written Christmas hits, in addition to four covers of quintessential holiday songs — this includes a chance to hear Daði sing in Icelandic for a rendition of “Komdu um jólin.” The Icelandic artist adds his own spin to each of the songs, bringing his electronic styling to the EP.
Andreas Lundstedt – “Mitt hem är där du är i jul”
Before returning to Melodifestivalen in 2025, Andreas Lundstedt has concluded the current year with a festive offering. “Mitt hem är där du är i jul” translates to English as “My home is where you are this Christmas,” referencing the comfort and safety that a loved one can provide during the winter months. Musically, the song is an emotive ballad that the Eurovision 2006 entrant sings alongside a full and rich orchestra.
ROXOLONA feat. alyona alyona, Jamala, TVORCHI and more – настрій : колядувати Vol.2
Vidbir 2022 contestant, ROXOLONA, released the short album настрій : колядувати (mood: to sing carols) in 2023. A year later, the Ukrainian artist has shared volume two — and this time it features a number of Eurovision alumni. ROXOLONA sings alongside Jamala (2016), TVORCHI (2023) and alyona alyona (2024) on reinterpreted versions of Ukrainian carols. Speaking about the collaborations to Vogue Ukraine, ROXOLONA commented:
“Despite the fact that I arranged most of the carols myself, each artist brought a lot of their own vision to the recording. For example, alyona alyona brought the carol ‘A v gori, v gori’ from Boykivshchyna, and we decided to combine rap with traditional performance. Instead, the popular schedrivka ‘Oy sivaya ta i zozulenka’ was recorded entirely by the TVORCHI band in the chill house style.”
VICTORIA – “sad girl winter (again)”
Following on from her “sad girl summer,” VICTORIA is now having a “sad girl winter (again).” Bulgaria’s Eurovision 2021 star doesn’t bring us the typical festive offering, laced with sleigh bells and merriness. Instead, she delivers an emotional tune backed by beautiful string accompaniment as she prepares for another Christmas without her loved one: “So what’s the point in mistletoe / When sad girl winter’s all I’ve got? (again) / Time / Just a little more life / With you wrapped around my / Life / With the ribbons of time / Cuz Christmas feels lonesome without you.”
Alexandra Rotan – “Jula Er Her”
Over recent years, Eurovision 2019 alumna, Alexandra Rotan, has released covers of classic Christmas hits. But for 2024, the Norwegian singer has now shared her first self-written winter single. “Jula Er Her” (“Christmas Is Here”) is a delicate and touching ballad. The lyrics refer to how Christmas is a time for unity and a period that allows us to forget about any difficult situations for a short while: “When the final rain is replaced by snow crystals / And the river that has divided us freezes / We forget all that has been said and brave the cold / Christmas is here.”
BERMUDU DIVSTŪRIS feat. DJ Guano – “Flamingo”
The typical narrative of Christmas songs usually references white snow falling on a cold winter’s night. But BERMUDU DIVSTŪRIS have decided to step away from the norm and offer us something warmer … and pinker. Latvia’s Eurovision 2011 duo have worked with DJ Guano for “Flamingo,” which they say combines a little humour, a little madness, and maximum party energy.
Edyta Górniak – My Favourite Winter
Poland’s Edyta Górniak gives us a glimpse into My Favourite Winter with her new Christmas album. The LP features a total of 11 songs, mixing English and Polish classics. The Eurovision 1994 alumna sings all of them in accompaniment with an orchestra to create an atmospheric winter record.
Gerard Joling – Holy Night
Gerard Joling is another singer with a holiday EP out this year. Holy Night contains six songs, bringing together some of the the Dutch performer’s previous Christmas offerings with a few brand new ones. Don’t be fooled by the opening rendition of “O Holy Night,” the Eurovision 1988 alum turns the BPM right up for some of the following tracks.
Natasha St-Pier – Christmas Album (Whispers Of Christmas Magic)
Last year, Natasha St-Pier unveiled her Christmas Album full of holiday tunes. For 2024, France’s Eurovision 2001 act has added a few Whispers Of Christmas Magic. This deluxe version attaches four new songs to the end — covers of three more classic English hits, as well as the French language festive song “Bons baisers de Fort de France.”
Lauris Reiniks & Ričijs Rū – “Ziemassvētkus svinam”
Latvian children’s character, Ričijs Rū, is getting into the festive spirit this year with the single “Ziemassvētkus svinam” (“We celebrate Christmas”). Voiced by Eurovision 2003 alum, Lauris Reiniks, the tune sees Ričijs Rū excitedly getting ready to enjoy time with his friends at a holiday party: “We share gifts and joy / Every year we get together / And we celebrate Christmas.”
Kállay Saunders – “Merry Christmas Everyone”
For his first ever Christmas song, Kállay Saunders has decided to record a cover of “Merry Christmas Everyone” — first performed by Shakin’ Stevens. Hungary’s Eurovision 2014 star gives the track his own spin, transforming it into an R&B-pop ballad that also has a few gospel influences courtesy of the backing choir.
HubbaBubba feat. Svala – JólaHúbbaBúbba
Icelandic duo HubbaBubba have got into the Christmas spirit and released their own festive EP, titled JólaHúbbaBúbba (HúbbaBúbba Christmas). There are three tracks on the record, two of which feature Eurovision 2017 star Svala — who also joins HubbaBubba for the music video of the title track. The EP brings together hip hop and electronic elements, blended with some wintry charm.
Mike Tramp – “Når Det Ikke Længere Er Jul”
December is often a time when we champion charity and giving to those who are less fortunate. However, Mike Tramp wants to focus on what we do “Når Det Ikke Længere Er Jul” (“When Christmas is no longer there”). In his stripped-back, acoustic-guitar-driven offering, Denmark’s Eurovision 1978 act discusses the fact that peace and charity are not seasonal items but should be on our shelves all year round: “They say there’s a season for light / They say there’s a season for hearts / As if we can settle for less / When Christmas is no longer there.”
Fabrizio Faniello – “Wish every day could be like Christmas”
Malta’s Fabrizio Faniello brings us a merry tune that will certainly raise some smiles at any Christmas party. The two-time Eurovision participant hopes to capture these good vibes and keep them going beyond the 25 December: “Wish every day could be like Christmas / Lets make it last throughout the year / It’s time to spread some warmth and cheer / Cherish love; joy and hope we all share.”
Magdalena Tul – “Let It Snow!”
Magdalena Tul is hoping for plenty of white scenery this Christmas. Poland’s Eurovision 2011 entrant has recorded a cover of the classic 1945 hit “Let It Snow!”. Tul gives the song a little extra spice, singing alongside a band and transporting the listener to a 1940’s jazz bar.
Jeans Generacija feat. Vlado Kalember, Boris Novković, Tajči, Emilija Kokić and more – “Bozicna”
Jeans Generacija is a project that sees several legendary Croatian singers coming together to celebrate the festive period. This of course includes a number of Eurovision alumni — Vlado Kalember (1984), Emilija Kokić (1989 as part of Riva), Tajči (1990), Boris Novković (2005) — along with previous Dora contestants — Neki To Vole Vruće (1993), Alka Vuica (1993), Sandi Cenov (1993 & 2001), Vladimir Kočiš Zec (2001). Their joint single, “Bozicna” (“Christmas”), has a classic but cheery atmosphere to it with guitars accompanied by sleigh bells.
