The Eurovision 2025 season is beginning to heat up. Over the course of the next few months, we will all fall in and out of love with scores of new national final and Eurovision entries. But that doesn’t mean we forget about the artists from past contests.
Contrary to the commonly perpetuated myth about the song contest killing careers, we’re always thrilled to report that singers associated with Eurovision are thriving.
Here is our latest weekly roundup with a selection of the songs released recently by Eurovision stars.

Baby Lasagna – “Catch Me If You Can”
We start this week with a song from Baby Lasagna, the Croatian singer who proudly represented his country in this year’s Eurovision and became a sensation during the show. His newest single, “Catch Me If You Can,” is fun, catchy, and brimming with the Slavic aesthetic core that fans adore in his music videos. The entire experience, from the song to the video, is pure entertainment. The music video features a wedding, and it’s worth mentioning that Baby Lasagna recently got married in real life to Elizabeta, who also plays his bride in the video. Baby Lasagna summed up the video in an Instagram post: “babies & elderly, balls & cars, fire & a priest” — it delivers on this chaotic mix in such a great way.
The lyrics are humorous and speak about living life by your own rules, even if you lack material wealth or social polish. They convey the idea of being carefree and hard to pin down: “I got nothing to offer in your flashy show / My clothes are basic, man, I don’t know / How to dress and how to smile / Content, friendships, lifestyle.” The song’s message ties back to his Eurovision journey, as Baby Lasagna explained:
“Although ESC was something that I will remember for as long as I breath and even though it was the show that propelled me to unimaginable heights, I often felt like I didn’t belong there. Of course feeling alienated like that can be somewhat harsh and confusing, and ‘Catch Me If You Can’ is just about that. It’s about being an outsider but at the same time owning it! It’s about doing things your way and trusting your vision no matter the popular opinion, no matter the popular taste and no matter the expectations. It’s about being basic in a society that tries so hard not to be basic – making it basic. It’s one big ‘f you’ to the great expectations.”
Emmelie de Forrest – “Million To One”
Emmelie won Eurovision in 2013 for Denmark. The song she released this week is a serene autumn ballad, where her voice sounds as beautiful as ever, delighting us with a self-composed track. The lyrics tell the story of a lover who doesn’t intend to stay, capturing the internal struggle of accepting or rejecting this person, even when the feelings are strong, despite knowing the inevitable outcome.
ALIKA – “virmalised”
Last year, ALIKA made Estonia proud with her performance. Her song “Northern lights” is her latest release before her upcoming EP drops on November 29th. The track is a pop anthem, and in the music video, ALIKA impresses with her energy and incredible style. The song openly speaks about longing for someone, even when it’s hard to admit: “The northern lights are gone/ Outside, the stars are falling/ I haven’t seen you/ Now I have a better idea/ Where are you hiding?”
ELENA – “Colț de Pământ”
ELENA, the iconic Balkan Girl who represented Romania in 2009, has released her newest song, “Corner of the Earth,” a soft, autumnal pop ballad that’s perfect for warming up your playlist this season, especially with ELENA’s soothing voice. The song and its accompanying music video tell the story of a high school romance, not wrapped in memories of loss and longing but instead focused on the desire to turn back time and return to that one pure, true love. Yet, as the lyrics suggest, what is meant to be yours will find its way back to you: “Among dreams of longing carried by the wind today/ Memories remain, never leaving my mind/ And I’d run somewhere, to another corner of the Earth/ But no matter where I go, I end up with you.”
The music video portrays a young love story and how it evolves over the years. It was filmed in various iconic locations around Bucharest, such as the National History Museum, the Old Town, and Herăstrău Park, as well as outside the city at the Cantacuzino Estate. Speaking about the song, ELENA shared:
“I don’t think I’ve ever been more excited about the release of a song. It’s special to me, it says so much, and it makes me feel every single note. It was one of the most beautiful experiences: singing it, being part of its creation, and especially fully immersing myself in making the music video.”
Zlata Ognevich – “Мости”
Zlata, the Ukrainian star who proudly represented her country in the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest, returns with a powerful ballad titled “Bridges.” The song delves into themes of burning bridges and letting go, set against a serene seaside backdrop where Zlata pours her heart into the performance. The ballad tells the story of a romance that left her heart frozen and her resolve to move forward. The chorus captures this emotional journey: “Know, now I’m not yours/ And our lighthouse doesn’t shine anymore/ And I erased you from my memory/ Like the lipstick on my lips/ Know that I am one of those/ Who burns bridges/ You are frozen, frozen in the past.” When discussing the meaning behind the song and the strength of its lyrics, Zlata shared:
“‘Bridges’ is a story that will resonate with everyone who has experienced a difficult breakup, when only scars remain on the heart. But at the same time, everyone who has chosen themselves and to go their own way.”
Laura Tesoro – “Verder gaan”
Laura Tesoro, who represented Belgium in Eurovision 2016, is back in the spotlight as the beloved Disney movie Vaiana (Flemish version of Moana) returns with a highly anticipated sequel. Laura reprises her role as the voice of Vaiana, which also means lending her voice to the film’s soundtrack. Her track, “Go Further,” captures the signature Disney magic, radiating joy and optimism. It’s sure to delight Disney fans and build excitement for the upcoming movie. The official release date for the sequel is November 27th.
Justyna Steczkowska – “Ty Lustrem Świata”
Justyna, already a Polish superstar, first made waves at Eurovision back in 1995. Recently, she hinted at her willingness to compete again in next year’s edition, so who knows, she might give it another shot! In the meantime, she has released a new song titled “You Are The Mirror Of The World.” This track is a powerful and confident anthem, blending pop influences with touches of traditional sounds, creating a captivating fusion of styles.
Joker Out – Souvenir Pop
Joker Out, the beloved Slovenian pop-rock band who represented their country at Eurovision 2023, have finally released their new album, the first since their Eurovision journey. This album captures their signature energy in 10 pop-rock tracks, most of them in Slovenian, with the exception of the final track, “Everybody’s Waiting,” which is in English.
The album features a mix of new songs and previously released hits, including “Šta Bih Ja” (What Would I Do), “Bluza” (Blouse), “Everybody’s Waiting,” and “Stephanie.” Of course, their Eurovision smash hit, “Carpe Diem,” is also part of the line-up.
Adding a sentimental touch, the album’s cover photo was taken at their hotel in Liverpool on the day of the second semi-final, when the band aimed to secure a spot in the Eurovision final, which they successfully achieved.
Andrei Ursu – “O nouă viață”
Andrei competed in Eurovision 2022 for Romania under his stage name at the time, wrs. His newest song continues the musical direction he’s been exploring recently, which is a retro Romanian style. This retro style flourished in Romania from the early 60s to the late 80s. His song is called “A New Life” and speaks about how, even after a breakup when everything might seem hopeless, a new life is waiting: “A new life is awaiting us/ Even after a separation/ Chase after hope, no matter what comes/ Don’t be afraid of anyone/ A new life is awaiting us/ We just have to embrace it when it comes/ Held by dark thoughts/ We might not see it, it passes right by” To accentuate the retro vibe even further, the song is accompanied by a black-and-white music video. But as hope starts to settle in, everything begins to catch colour.
Lord Of The Lost & Feurschwanz – “Lords Of Fyre”
If there are any rock music fans around, you’re in for a treat! Lord of The Lost represented Germany at Eurovision in 2023. As a well-known rock band worldwide, you can be sure that their new song is an authentic rock track, but with an interesting twist. It’s a collaboration with Feuerschwanz, a German medieval metal band. When rock and medieval metal styles come together, the result is a fascinating blend. Enjoy!
Kasia Moś – Wszystko to czego nie da się powiedzieć
From Poland comes a fantastic album from Kasia, who represented her country at Eurovision in 2017. Her album is called All That Cannot Be Said and is a collection of deeply personal tracks, 13 in total, all in Polish. The album features collaborations with several talented artists, including Leszek Możdżer, Norma John (the Finnish duo who competed in Eurovision 2017), Jarecki, Kasta, Mateusz Krautwurst, VNM, Urbanski, and AUKSO. Additionally, the last three tracks are live recordings. Reflecting on how personal this album is to her, Kasia shared:
“Everything that cannot be said can be sung. A song is a metaphysical thread of emotion between music and lyrics, between sounds and silence. It often screams the loudest. This album is a clasp that sums up an extremely active, sometimes even madly rushed stage of my life. Choosing songs, most of which are already well-known to listeners, I felt like a teenage girl who records her favourite songs on a cassette tape to listen to them with friends at a party or alone, with headphones on, in the dark, when you want to remember beautiful moments.”
Nina Sublatti – “Light”
Nina represented Georgia in Eurovision 2015. Her newest track is highly experimental, showcasing a contemporary alternative sound that makes it a standout piece in this week’s playlist. The song carries a powerful message, focusing on acknowledging your inner light and reclaiming it when someone else tries to take it away: “Give me back my light/ Give back what’s just mine/ Asking for strength and longevity/ While I’m crying/ In disappointing times.” The song also touches on the feeling of being lost after a breakup, but it emphasises that it’s not worth staying in a relationship where you’re being played.
Sunstroke Project – “Ghostbusters”
Sunstroke Project represented Moldova twice — first in 2010 and again in 2019, when they achieved 3rd place, which remains Moldova’s best result in Eurovision. Their funny and charismatic nature made them unforgettable, and of course, their Epic Sax Guy continues to shine in their newest release. The song is actually a cover of the 1984 classic performed by Ray Parker Jr., originally released as the soundtrack to the television series Ghostbusters. Despite it being a legendary track, Sunstroke Project manages to infuse their own unique style into the mix.
Sudden Lights – “eldorado”
Sudden Lights represented Latvia in Eurovision 2023, and their unique alternative style continues to shine in their newest release. The music video is filled with metaphors and deeper meanings, so be sure to check it out. As for the meaning of the song, the band explains that it draws inspiration from the legend of El Dorado, the mythical city of gold supposedly hidden somewhere in South America. The legend dates back to 1530, when an indigenous tribe leader from Colombia would cover himself in gold during religious ceremonies and swim in a lake in the Andes Mountains. Over time, the El Dorado legend has come to symbolise a place where wealth and success can be attained quickly and effortlessly — a metaphor that resonates through the song.
Nicole – Carpe Diem
Nicole won the Eurovision contest for Germany in 1982, and since then, she has been a shining superstar in the country. This week, she dropped her new album Carpe Diem. The title, a Latin phrase meaning “Live the moment,” reflects exactly what Nicole is doing now — celebrating the release with a tour, sharing her new songs with her fans. The album features 14 tracks, all in German, with the final one being an exciting medley. It blends acoustic songs, some slow and others more energetic, but overall, the album serves as a reminder to live life to the fullest and embrace every feeling along the way.
Aksel Kankaanranta – “Valonsäteet”
Aksel was selected to represent Finland in 2020, but unfortunately, the contest was cancelled due to the pandemic. His newest song, titled “Rays of Light,” perfectly captures the feeling of light and hope, thanks to the versatility of Aksel’s voice, which creates beautiful harmonies throughout the track. The song explores the contrast between rays of light and the “sleep demons” we sometimes face, offering a sense of comfort.
Triana Park – Vientuļo Dzejnieku Sala
We end the first part of this week’s round-up with Triana Park, who represented Latvia in 2017. She enchants us with a new album, titled Island of Lonely Poets. The album’s lyrical journey is inspired by Latvian culture and poetry. All 17 tracks on the album are in Latvian, with a mix of songs and poetry recordings. Together, they create a magical effect, blending various styles, sounds, and emotions. The album also features a collaboration with Normunds Zušs on the track “Liepu Laipas” (Linden Walkways).
