Posted on 27 October 2024 By Admin No Comments on New music this week: Songs from Damiano David, Marcus & Martinus, Cleo & Donatan and more

Although we’re officially into the Eurovision 2025 season, it will still be some time before we hear any national final and Eurovision songs. Thankfully, the music will always continue and a number of Eurovision artists are still producing new songs for us to enjoy.

Contrary to the commonly perpetuated myth about the song contest killing careers, we’re always thrilled to report that singers associated with Eurovision are thriving.

Here is our latest weekly roundup with a selection of the songs released recently by Eurovision stars.

New music from Eurovision artists: 2024 | Week 43

Damiano David – “Born With a Broken Heart”

Damiano competed in Eurovision as part of Måneskin and won the contest for Italy in 2021. Beyond his work with Måneskin, he’s also embarked on a solo project, and this song marks his second solo release. It features an incredible retro-pop sound that highlights his versatility and vocal talent. The music video, with its old Hollywood aesthetic, showcases his skills as a dancer, giving it the feel of a cinematic musical, reminiscent of La La Land. Lyrically, the song explores the pain of a broken heart that seems beyond repair and the fear of becoming a burden to a loved one: “What if I said I’m trying/ To save your love from dying/ Baby I’m too far gone/ Don’t wanna see you crying/ But I just know who I am/ Maybe that’s the hardest part ohhh/ Baby you can’t fix me, I was born with a broken heart.”

Aiko – “Regal”

Aiko, who represented the Czech Republic in this year’s Eurovision, is back with her latest song, which is sure to stand out in your playlists. This powerful track features pop-rock elements and addresses the need for a “detox from the ego,” focusing on people who try to be someone they’re not. The lyrics include: “You need a detox from your ego / Oh, it seems so hard to be you! / So were you looking for a crown? / Oh wow! Stop getting all worked up now.” The music video adds some extra dark vibes to the whole mix.

Marcus & Martinus x VIZE – “Another Life”

Marcus & Martinus, the Norwegian twin duo who represented Sweden in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, have released a new electronic pop track with strong EDM influences that’s sure to get you moving. The song, a collaboration with VIZE, leans into a vibrant electronic sound that amplifies its energetic feel. Speaking about the lyrics, they explore the sensation of meeting someone who feels like a perfect match, almost as if they were destined to meet in another life: “Baby, you’re forever mine, known you all this time / From another life.”

Bambie Thug – “Fangtasy”

Bambie represented Ireland in this year’s Eurovision, and they are ready to bring some Halloween vibes with their latest song. Featuring a pop-rock sound, the track warns against falling in love with “a vampire,” despite the temptation being strong. The lyrics include: “I got a message from the other side / The moon was low and the spirits high / It touched my soul like a new romance / I lost control. It was some kind of trance.” The animated music video leaves viewers craving a sequel or at least a cartoon series about Bambie and their adventures. It depicts a dark party that gets interrupted by a vampire, but in the end, the witches triumph over the vampire. They also performed this show in this week’s edition of The Late Late Show.

Cleo, Donatan & Hinol Polska Wesja – “Jabłoni”

The duo formed by Cleo and the producer Donatan,  represented Poland in Eurovision 2014. They have just released a new song, “Apple Trees”. It’s a collaboration with Hinol Polska Wersja, whose energetic rap blends smoothly with the song’s traditional vibe, celebrating the beauty of Polish culture. The colorful music video, set in an apple orchard, features beautiful traditional costumes. The song’s lyrics touch on the theme of longing that grows with time: “And the apple trees are blooming again, the apple trees/ Longing/ When you’re not there, it feels like less of me.”

ISAAK & Unknown Brain – “SOS”

ISAAK, who competed for Germany this year, is back with a new track in collaboration with Unknown Brain, bringing serious party vibes with a powerful pop sound. Despite its upbeat feel, the song delivers a strong message about breaking free from routine and learning to enjoy life more. Lyrics like: “SOS, SOS I’m calling / Everything’s so fucking boring / SOS, SOS I’m calling / Same day, same night, same morning / Doctor, doctor what’s wrong with me / Lost, I’m lost in reality” capture the frustration of monotony and the desire for something more. It’s an anthem for anyone looking to shake things up and embrace life.

Benjamin Ingrosso – Pink Velvet Theatre

Benjamin represented Sweden in Eurovision 2018, and his long-anticipated album is finally here. Teased with hits like “Kite,” “Who’s Laughing Now,” and “Honey Boy,” which were performed as an interval act at this year’s Eurovision, the album was produced by Vincent Pontare and Salem Al Fakir, known for their work with major artists like Avicii, Katy Perry, Madonna, Sia, A$AP Rocky, and Lady Gaga.

Over two years, Benjamin crafted an album that captures a surreal universe filled with intense emotions and vivid imagery. Its sound draws inspiration from the music of the Bee Gees, Queen, and Elton John, creating an eclectic mix of nostalgia and innovation that invites listeners to immerse themselves in a thrilling, unpredictable world of love.

The lead single, “Back to You,” is about rediscovering love, while “Angela” channels an ABBA-style vibe. According to Benjamin, “Angela” serves as a modern twist on the Peter Pan tale, portraying Peter’s longing for Wendy after she leaves Earth—making it a metaphorical love letter to innocence and nostalgia.

About the creation process of the album, Benjamin stated:

“This album has been evolving alongside my personal growth as an artist and songwriter. It’s a modern love story—like a contemporary Romeo and Juliet, only set in a dreamlike world where love blurs the line between reality and imagination.”

MARO & NASAYA – “CRYCRYCRY”

MARO represented Portugal in Eurovision 2022, and her latest song is an English-language track in collaboration with Nasaya. The song shifts into an electronic dance direction, highlighting MARO’s experimental artistry. With  lyrics like: “Talk about it over a thousand times / We swear we’ll make it work, but then things just die,” the song explores a relationship that couldn’t be saved, leaving only tears to ease the pain. Along with the exciting vibes of her new release, MARO is also preparing for a tour in both North and South America.

Ivi Adamou – “Logia”

Ivi, who represented Cyprus in Eurovision 2012, is back with her latest track, titled “Words.” This upbeat banger explores the theme of how sometimes it’s just words and a lack of action. The song features modern instrumentation and comes with an aesthetically pleasing music video showcasing vibrant colors, Ivi’s great sense of fashion, and playful visuals.

Sanja Vučić & Nucci – “Vagabundo”

Sanja has a long history with Eurovision, having first represented Serbia in 2016. She was later selected to return in 2020 as part of the girl group Hurricane, but sadly, Eurovision was canceled that year. Hurricane eventually made their comeback in 2021. This week, Sanja collaborated again with fellow artist Nucci to release “Vagabond.” The song features turbo folk influences and boasts a cinematographic music video that depicts a small-town romance. The lyrics capture the complexities of loving someone who is already taken: “- You love me like crazy, my vagabond / It’s clear for me, my heart is awake / I kiss other lips every day / Somebody else sleeps next to me / – I love you like crazy, I’m your vagabond / It’s clear for me, my heart is awake / Because of you, I drink every day / The pub is my second home.”

OGENE – “Phenomenon”

The three sisters of OGENE, who represented the Netherlands in 2017, are finally back with new music that fans have been eagerly anticipating. Their latest song is a self-composed piece, adding an extra layer of significance to their return.
