Although we’re officially into the Eurovision 2025 season, it will still be some time before we hear any national final and Eurovision songs. Thankfully, the music will always continue and a number of Eurovision artists are still producing new songs for us to enjoy.

Contrary to the commonly perpetuated myth about the song contest killing careers, we’re always thrilled to report that singers associated with Eurovision are thriving.

Here is our latest weekly roundup with a selection of the songs released recently by Eurovision stars.

New music from Eurovision artists: 2024 | Week 41

Olly Alexander – “Cupid’s Bow”

Olly Alexander performed under his own name for the first time at Eurovision 2024. This new chapter of the British singer’s career now continues with “Cupid’s Bow.” Olly takes further inspiration from the ’90s but this time adds in a dance hall and trance pop quality. The lyrics see the star hunting down a lover, ready to shoot an arrow straight into their heart: “Oh, cupid’s bow is looking for / Somebody like, yeah! / Just follow the light / I wanna believe / I wanna trust, yeah! / I’ve got someone in mind / Someone I need / Somebody like you.” Olly’s upcoming album, Polari, is set for release in February 2025.

Ronela Hajati – “Labrinth”

After a year off, Albanian music competition Kënga Magjike is back for 2024. This year’s songs are gradually being revealed, and one of the latest comes from Ronela Hajati. The Eurovision 2022 star has returned to the contest after seven years, this time around entering with the song “Labrinth.” It’s a more emotional offering compared to the feisty bops you might be used to from Ronela. Instead, she’s putting her soul into a slow R&B number.

Loreen – “Warning Signs”

We’ve had “Warning Signs” that a new single from Loreen is on the way for several weeks. Now, it’s finally here. Sweden’s double Eurovision champion brings us a short track at just over two minutes but it still packs a punch. Loreen’s breathy yet powerful vocal brings a spiritual quality on top of the electronic dance beats that get the listener moving. Lyrically, the star is getting herself into a relationship she ultimately knows will likely end in heartbreak: “I’m wide awake, and I can’t believe your body’s / Right next to me, I’m ignorin’ all the warnin’ / Signs, and I think I’m in trouble, but I want it, I’m / Ignorin’ all the warnin’ signs.”

Käärijä – “Sex = Money”

Käärijä is in album promotion mode ahead of his sophomore LP dropping at the start of November. The Finnish star knows one thing sells more than anything else — sex. As a result, Käärijä is ready to strip off all his clothes to make a bit of cash: “I started selling sex ’cause it is what sells / ‘Cause I just couldn’t think of anything else / Butt-ass naked I bounce around for cash / See, the best can’t be bought for any less.” Musically, “Sex = Money” is a full throttle, balls to the wall track with electro and techno influences that doesn’t let up for the entire two minutes and 53 seconds.

alyona alyona – “А що буде”

“And what will happen when we are gone? / Let’s grow a willow or a chestnut above the lake / And what will happen when we are gone? / Someone will remain a stone / Someone will break up like snow”

alyona alyona is asking us to reflect on our legacy. Ukraine’s representative from this year began to think about the topic whilst competing in the contest, considering what impact she will make on people that will stay with them into the future. Writing more about “А що буде” (“And what will happen”) in the music video’s description, the rapper noted:

“I sincerely believe that every person comes into this world with a certain mission. That is why it is so important to think about what you will leave behind. If everyone was aware of what kind of good or trace they leave behind, then, I am sure, there would be much less evil in the world. This song began to be born during Eurovision, and now is the time to share it with you. I hope that our work will find a response in your hearts, and you will feel the desire to leave behind as much light and goodness as possible. Let this song be your inspiration and a reminder of how important it is to do good and make this world a better place.”

Flo Rida & Alan Walker – “When I Grow Up (Young, Wild, & Free)”

After representing San Marino at Eurovision 2021 with Senhit, Flo Rida is now collaborating with another European musician. Norwegian DJ Alan Walker has joined with the rapper for the new song “When I Grow Up (Young, Wild, & Free).” In the upbeat song, Flo Rida discusses that he has never let anyone tell him how he should be living his life: “Hands up in the air if you livin’ life young, wild, and free / Made something out of nothing from a dollar and a dream / Close my eyes and see my younger self smilin’, smilin’ at me / Looking back is funny ’cause I said / When I grow up, I wanna be likе me / Can’t tell me nothing, ’bout who to bе.”

Little Big – “Kurwa”

Little Big have clearly been keeping up their Duolingo streak. Russia’s Eurovision 2020 entrants have included as many languages as possible in their crazy but somewhat addictive new single: “Ciao, Arrivederci, Ja / Ойбой, Sí señor, Сука бля / Huinja, Sí Arriba / Cabrones, Shalom, Corrida / Hola, Voulez-vous coucher avec moi / Coca-Cola, Nicht, Buongiorno, ce soir / Si, ja, да, oui.” The main language of choice is of course Polish, with the title of the song being the curse word “Kurwa” — literally meaning “whore,” but used in Polish as an expression of frustration, like “F*ck” in English.

You can watch the music video on YouTube.

Cascada – Studio 24

It’s time to hit up Studio 24. Cascada are taking us to the dancefloor, and with 15 songs we’ll be there all night long. Germany’s Eurovision 2013 group have taken classic hits and transformed them into new disco-tinged bops. If you’ve enjoyed their recent singles — “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough,” “Call Me” and “Studio 24” — then you’ll absolutely get on board with the rest of the LP. Party on!

Two champions join forces for this next song — Eurovision 2017 gold medallist, Salvador Sobral, and The Voice Portugal season eight winner, Luís Trigacheiro. They’ve put their voices together for the duet “Imagina a Cara Dela” (“Imagine her face”), a soft ballad with piano and string quartet accompaniment. The story in the lyrics initially seems happy and sweet, with a person planning an act of love for the person they have feelings for: “Imagine her face / When she sees me with a bouquet / Of yellow acacias / I’ve already imagined the plan / When I come in through the window.” However, when they get to this person’s house, the love in their heart quickly shatters: “What’s that in the window / Two figures in backlight / It’s not just her shadow / This isn’t what I supposed […] I’m going to curse the flowers / And throw them down the drain / Imagine my face.”

Ben Cristovao – “Noci & Dny” and “Srdce jo, hlava ne”

Ben Cristovao is in high demand. The Czech rapper has featured on two tracks recently. The first of these is “Noci & Dny” (“Nights & Days”) by Paulie Garand and Kenny Rough. Blending rap with house music, the Eurovision 2021 star’s choruses are really where the track lifts to another level.

You’ll also hear Cristovao on “Srdce jo, hlava ne” (“Heart yes, head no”). The song is the sophomore single from Czech pop singer bae. A mid-tempo offering, the Eurovision alum appears for the second verse.

At a writing camp for his next album, Eurovision 2015 act Vaidas Baumila took inspiration from the alternative-pop stylings of previous national final participant Rūta Loop. The end result is the song “Gniaužiu” (“Squeezing”), in which the Lithuanian duo sing about the wish to live a life according to your own rules and to do things that your soul desires. Commenting on the lyrics, Baumila said:

“I really liked the lines: ‘we moved here and there without a plan, with the wind in our heads.’ It perfectly reflects my approach to life – sometimes you need to go on an adventure without strict rules, just by feeling. This song talks about risk and the freedom to do what really makes us happy.”

AISEL & Miri Yusif – “Sənin Üçün”

Eurovision 2018 alumna AISEL has teamed up with fellow Azerbaijani singer Miri Yusif. The pair have brought us the cheery and upbeat number “Sənin Üçün” (“For You”). In the lyrics, they try to convince each other that they could be everything the other one needs — the water to help they grow and the heat to spark passion: “I will be the rain, I will rain / For you / I will be the fire, I will burn / For you.” All that’s left to do is wait for an answer: “I waited for days / I didn’t take my eyes off the phone / Let the answer come from him.”

Montaigne – “talking shit”

Let’s listen to some music. Specifically, let’s listen to Montaigne’s new single “talking shit.” Australia’s Eurovision 2021 representative is entering a new era of their career with the first song from their upcoming fourth studio album. The song incorporates an eclectic mix of musical beats, but they all manage to come together to form a catchy offering. Montaigne sings of a person who has been repeatedly getting on the singer’s nerves and finally used up all their lifelines: “You see the difference / Is that we’re just two normal people / This ain’t a drama / If you keep it up, there’ll be no sequel / You’re getting nowhere fast / If you keep on talking shit like that.” Speaking more about the inspiration for the song, Montainge noted:

“if you’ve ever had a relationship with someone who manipulated and lied to you constantly and you’ve finally had enough, this song is for you. […] i wrote this song in part as a response to the final of what has been years of texts that were unapologetically cruel to me before i blocked them permanently.”

Eva Boto – “Kdo Pozna”

Eva Boto takes us into autumn with a love ballad, titled “Kdo Pozna” (“Who knows”). Slovenia’s Eurovision 2012 performer begins with piano accompaniment before a backing choir and violin melody are eventually added to bring the song to a rich conclusion. Lyrically, Boto asks how many of us have experienced the same flutter in our hearts as she is currently feeling: “Who knows this part of the heart? / Which lifts you up into the sky and lands you on solid ground / Only we are part of the sky / Where we found the pearl of love / And trust / Who knows this?”

Subkids – “TRAIN”

Choo Choo!! Subwoolfer’s offspring are going on an adventure and they’re travelling in style. The intergalactic space wolves have jumped aboard the “TRAIN” and a journeying far and wide to see all of Earth’s magnificent sights: “All board the choo choo train / All the way from Maine to Spain […] I can see my house from here / Out of the other window I can see a polar bear / What’s that? That is the Great Wall of China / What’s that? I think it’s North Carolina.”

Senhit – Dangerous

Senhit is feeling Dangerous. San Marino’s two-time Eurovision act has dropped her first new album in 15 years. The LP contains eight songs and three remixes — this includes her 2021 entry “Adrenalina” with Flo Rida. Amongst this are three previously unreleased songs to experience for the first time — “Dangerous,” “2 Good” and “Nectar — all of which keep the upbeat party spirit going.

Max Mutzke – XX

Germany’s Max Mutzke has a new album for us to delve into. XX contains 11 songs in total, including recent singles “California Spider,” “Bedingungslos,” “Whisky Baby,” and his Das deutsche Finale entry “Forever Strong.” As seen with these singles, the album mixes up English and German songs. But regardless of language, all the songs have a common thread owing to the soul and jazz influences that the Eurovision 2004 star incorporates throughout.

Ryan O’Shaughnessy & ENGRANE – “Birds”

ENGRANE is a multi-instrumentalist and ambient music creator. But for his latest single, “Birds,” the producer has decided to add an extra touch of magic by layering vocals on top. This voice comes courtesy of Ireland’s Eurovision 2018 act Ryan O’Shaughnessy, who sings of waiting for life’s path to be opened up: “My soul’s on fire waiting for you to come and show me the way / My heart’s desire for the birds to come and fly me away.”

Ben Dolic – “me against myself”

After many years of hard work, Ben Dolic has now released his debut EP. how i’m feeling features five songs, bringing together his recent singles along with the brand new song “me against myself.” This closing track is a spirited pop song in which Germany’s Eurovision 2020 entrant discusses his internal struggle, where he has to battle the competing thoughts in his head: “It’s me against myself, no one’s winning / I put myself through hell on prescription / And I can’t take it / I stay in bed at home for work / Either way, I feel the same / It’s like the cycle never ends / So here we go again.”

DJ Muscleboy feat. Yohanna – “My Heart Will Go On”

“My Heart Will Go On” is one of the biggest songs of all time, made famous by Eurovision 1988 champion Céline Dion. But one place you probably don’t hear it very often is the club — until now. DJ Muscleboy has remixed the song into a dance track that you can play all night long. Instead of using Céline’s original vocals, the DJ has brought in Iceland’s Eurovision 2009 silver medallist Yohanna to sincg.

Speaking of Céline, you can now stream her cover of Édith Piaf’s “Hymne à l’amour,” which she performed at the opening ceremony of this year’s Olympic Games.

Paolo Benvegnù feat. Paolo Fresu & Ermal Meta – “Il mare verticale”

Italian guitarist and singer Paolo Benvegnù first shared “Il mare verticale” (“The vertical sea”) in 2008 as part of his solo album Piccoli Fragilissimi Film. He’s now reproducing the album with the help of some special guests on each track. Eurovision 2017 alum Ermal Meta appears on the opening song, adding his stylings alongside Paolo Fresu.

Sigurður Guðmundsson feat. Björgvin Halldórsson – “Eitthvað til að taka með”

Icelandic artist Sigurður Guðmundsson has released a new album this week. On the LP’s second song, “Eitthvað til að taka með” (“Something to take away”), you can hear additional vocals from Björgvin Halldórsson — he represented Iceland at Eurovision 1995. The pair deliver a steady, percussion-led song with a midway guitar solo.

Hanna Pakarinen – “Hulluihin öihin”

This week’s episode of Vain elämää took us to the dancefloor as it was all centred around Finland’s Eurovision 2009 representative Waldo. Acts appearing on the show performed covers of his greatest hits, including Eurovision 2007 alumna Hanna Pakarinen, who put her voice to a rendition of “Hulluihin öihin” (“For crazy nights”).

Waldo’s Eurovision track “Lose Control” was given an update by UMK 2021 competitor Ilta — she transformed it into the contemporary Finnish-language bop “Kiire.” Meanwhile, singer Jussi Rainio performed “Feel So Good” with a little bit of help from Eurovision 2019 DJ Darude.

DØR – “DESALENTO” (feat. iolanda & Rita Onofre) and “CAPAZ” (feat. Isaura)

Portuguese music producer DØR has shared his debut studio album, FASES. Two of the songs feature past Eurovision participants. Firstly, “DESALENTO” (“Dismay”) includes the voice of 2024 star iolanda alongside fellow Portuguese singer Rita Onofre. Then, later in the album you can hear Portugal’s 2018 songwriter and vocalist Isaura on “CAPAZ” (“Able”).

Danti & Vacca feat. Nina Zilli – “Scandalo”

Italian rappers Danti and Vacca recently dropped the collaboration album 6e20. Track #6 on the LP, “Scandalo,” features additional vocals from Eurovision 2012 star, and Danti’s partner, Nina Zilli. She sings the intro and chorus: “Let’s raise our glasses to the sky / And then, sincerely, in our eyes / Here, they forgive you for everything / But not a sandal that’s not chic / Oh my god, it’s a scandal, scandal.” The song makes reference to a few real-life scandals, including BLANCO’s fit of rage at Sanremo 2023: “Nobody cared about the flowers, the shoes didn’t match Blanco’s suit.”
