Melodifestivalen 2025 songs will be released the Friday before each semi-final

Posted on 22 August 2024 By Admin No Comments on Melodifestivalen 2025 songs will be released the Friday before each semi-final

If you’re a fan of Melodifestivalen, then you’ve probably, at some point, been annoyed that you couldn’t stream your favourite song after hearing it compete in the semi-finals. In the past you could stream the eliminated songs, but not those that had advanced to the final. Well all of that is changing with Melodifestivalen 2025 thanks to new rules unveiled earlier today.

Melodifestivalen 2025 songs will be released the Friday before each semi-final

For Melodifestivalen 2025, each of the six songs in each semi-final will be released on the Friday before the show. That means fans can fall in love with the songs before ever seeing their live staging. If they’re still in love with the songs after the live performance, they can then throw ’em their vote. After the show, fans will no longer have to search for illegal uploads to re-live the songs. They’ll be able to listen legally and without any stress.

Only third-place songs in contention for “finalkvalet” round

Producers are accepting song submissions for Sweden’s biggest TV show between 23 August and 14 September. As ever, thousands of submissions will be culled to just 30 songs, which will be introduced over five shows. The public’s top two favourites from each show will advance to the 12-song grand final.

Those two remaining slots in the final will be filled by a new process. Rather than giving both the third and fourth place acts a second chance of making the final, only songs that finish third in their semi-final will be considered.

At the end of the fifth show, the third-place finisher with the highest score will automatically advance. The public will then vote for their favourite among the remaining four third-place songs and the winner will advance to the final.

What do you think of the new rules? And why do you think they were introduced? Let us know down below…
