At Eurovision 2019 she took Greece back to the final and won over countless new international fans with her beautiful song “Better Love.” And since then Katerine Duska has kept giving us the love, as you can hear on her uplifting new song “Sunshine.”

The song describes the process of breaking through inner darkness and reclaiming a joy that’s been struggling to surface. “Missing it a lifetime, now just wanna feel the sun shining,” she sings. “Let the sunshine in!”

The single will be released tomorrow — that’s Friday 26 July — by Panik Records. But Katerine has kindly given Wiwibloggs this 24-hour exclusive. You can watch the sun-tinged video below.

Katerine Duska shares “Sunshine” — her summery new single

Speaking to Wiwibloggs ahead of the release, Katerine explained how the single marks a new chapter in her life.

“This is a very special one for me because it’s the first single off my upcoming concept album I’ve been working on for the past two years.”

“This song is obviously a very fun, summer-coded dance track. But at the same time it’s a song that for me came at a time I really wanted to get out of a dark place I was sitting in for a while.”

“It’s about letting go of that sadness and coming into a new light — craving the light, craving that inner peace and embracing the new dawn and that new self. So I hope you like it.”

And we do. The lyrics carry heavy feelings, yet feel light and delicate thanks to Katerine’s delivery. We hear her turn a corner toward hope and renewal.

“I’ve been holdin’ a heart so broken though never spoken that way, something changed as my darkness faded, my tears start coming in waves”.

Her honesty — about pain, about being trapped in the shadows — ultimately frees her, creating a song so uplifting you can’t help but smile. As she sings:

“A light so bright it burns my eyes for the first time. My sun rises, the start of something or just the end of my night.”
