Baring all: MÉLOVIN shares music video for his Vidbir 2024 entry “Dreamer”

Posted on 16 April 2024 By Admin No Comments on Baring all: MÉLOVIN shares music video for his Vidbir 2024 entry “Dreamer”

MÉLOVIN made a bold comeback to Vidbir earlier this year in the hopes of returning to Eurovision after previously representing Ukraine in 2018. Despite ultimately placing third in the national selection, the singer’s dreaming spirit lives on and he has now released a music video for his entry “Dreamer”.

The star previously explained the song tells a universal story of daring to dream, inspired by Ukrainian composer Volodymyr Ivasyuk — who gave his life for Ukrainian music during the Soviet occupation.

For the music video, MÉLOVIN gets more personal and lays bare his own story of formation. The Ukrainian singer chose to appear naked in some shots as he shares his own path from the birth of a dreamer.

MÉLOVIN – “Dreamer” (Music Video)

“This piece of music is special to me because of its depth and philosophy. ‘Born to Shine and Nothing Else’: this is how the team and directors Pavel Zakrevsky and Mariami Pogrebinsky called this clip. This is a story from the birth of a dreamer to… to what, everyone will decide for themself after watching the clip.

“It was the first time I was naked on the set. Completely naked. It was morally unusual, I had a lot of contradictions inside. Who would agree to be naked in front of a huge film crew? It was a competition within myself. But I came up with this shot – I had to go to the very end if I call myself a creator. I challenged myself to do this in order to convey the picture I had in my mind. To play again the same role that each of us, without exception, has gone through. But it was worth it! Everything was real, without embellishments. Just like 27 years ago,” shared the star in a press release.

With this music video, MÉLOVIN emphasises that people are born sincere dreamers who make this world brighter and better. He calls on everyone to dream and not to give up on the way to realising their own dreams, as it’s this faith that will help guide us through the most challenging aspects of our journey through life:

“Shine brightly and do not be afraid of anything. Dream and make your dreams come true! We are not born to live in fear. We are born to shine and nothing else.”

What do you think of MÉLOVIN’s “Dreamer” music video? Do you hope he’ll return to Vidbir and Eurovision again in the future? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
