Nemo: Switzerland’s Eurovision 2024 singer is “so happy” with Benke Rydman’s stage plans

Posted on 2 April 2024 By Admin No Comments on Nemo: Switzerland’s Eurovision 2024 singer is “so happy” with Benke Rydman’s stage plans

They’re the newly crowned favourite to win the Eurovision Song Contest 2024. And Switzerland’s Nemo says they are over-the-moon with Fredrik Benke Rydman, the Swedish choreographer and dancer who is overseeing the Swiss stage show.

The “The Code” hitmaker was cagey when our Cinan asked him to tease the mood and direction of their stage show. But Nemo did express their joy at working with Benke, who has been behind iconic stage shows for songs like Måns Zelmerlöw’s “Heroes” and Käärijä’s “Cha Cha Cha.” Benke has also served as creative director for Finland’s Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu in recent years.

So, how did rehearsals go with Benke in Stockholm recently?

“I really can’t say anything, not even about the mood or my team is going to get very mood-y,” Nemo told us at the Madrid Pre Party ES. “I can’t say anything right now. But I can say I’m in the process of it and it’s so much fun and I feel like it’s gonna be so good. I’m so happy with it.”

Nemo also loved filming their official music video, which unfolds on a series of train carriages. The Swiss may be packing those francs, but even they were dreaming of a bit more coin.

“At first they wanted [to film for] two days, but we didn’t have the budget,” Nemo said. “We had to do everything in one day. ‘I think it’s gonna take 12 hours,’ we thought. I’m not kidding: some people had to be there for 26 hours. People were giving everything for this music video. So many people worked their asses off for this. It’s the best music video I’ve ever been a part of.”

What do you want to see from Nemo on stage in Malmö? Do you think Benke will bring out the best in young Nemo? Let us know in the comments box below.
