The chances of Israel participating at Eurovision 2024 are getting slimmer by the minute. Israeli newspaper Ynet is reporting that “Dancing Forever” — Eden Golan’s alternative to “October Rain” — has also been rejected.
Quoting unnamed sources within the Foreign Ministry, the newspaper reports that “the alternative option has also been ruled out.”
“Dancing Forever” placed second to “October Rain” in the internal selection in Israel. But it reportedly still puts Israel at risk of disqualification.
Eden wrote the song alongside Ron Beaton, Mai Sepadia and Vinon Yahal.
Ynet also published the lyrics of the song, which is predominately in English. The paper did not explain the reasons behind the disqualification.
You’ll remember that “October Rain” was disqualified over its lyrics, which were deemed too political. It was largely assumed that that song referenced the October 7 attacks.
When Belarus submitted a song that was deemed too political in 2021, it was given one chance to resubmit. When the second song was also rejected, Belarus was expelled from the competition.
“Dancing Forever” lyrics — Eden Golan
My mind hiding
I don’t know what’s right
Take me to the right road
There’s no more time and I can’t go wrong
Breath in
I know that i’m strong
I brake all the chains
I’m on the edge now
Watch me fly away
Oh dance like an angel
Oh you will remember
That I will dance forever
I will dance again
Oh dance like an angel
Drowning in the sunrise
My heart is so cold, but my soul is on fire
Someone is calling from paradise
The hope doesn’t stop, it just spreads its wings
It is like a million stars that suddenly light up in the sky
Heart on fire I’m a fighter
Don’t stop the music
Turn it up louder
I spread out me wings
Flying through the sky hear violins
Angels don’t cry
They only sing
Still feel the ground
Beneath my feet
