Posted on 3 January 2024 By Admin No Comments on Sofia Coll is “Here To Stay” and slay with her Benidorm Fest 2024 entry

Sofia Coll is ready to prove she’s a force of nature at Benidorm Fest with her entry “Here To Stay”. She tells you as much in her song: “Imagine me, levitating over Everest, controlling icebergs, spinning like a strong wind, I am capable”.

Using three languages and countless beats, spins and turns, Sofia is set to give one of the biggest shows in Benidorm. But what do the Spanish and Catalan lyrics mean? Find out in this post.

Benidorm Fest 2024: Sofia Coll – “Here To Stay”

Hailing from Barcelona, Sofía Coll is one of the newest names on this year’s Benidorm Fest list, and one of the few independent artists.

Her music spans pop to R’n’B and she plays with reggaeton bases as well. She sings in Spanish, Catalan and English. She’s also a dancer and actress, and has collaborated with Benidorm Fest alum Rakky Ripper.

Sofía took part in TV3’s talent show “Eufòria”, one of the most popular programmes in the channel. Miki Núñez, he of “La Venda”, is the host of the show. There, Sofía performed Rosa Linn’s “Snap” and Rigoberta Bandini’s “Perra”.

What do the “Here To Stay” lyrics mean?

“Here To Stay” is all about empowerment and Sofia letting y’all know that she perseveres: “Nothing will stop me from trying a thousand more times, until the end…”

But it’s not just about letting others know. Sofia wants to remind herself to believe it too: “Let me feel this, my moment to contradict those who forgot about me, this is my moment, I’m burning inside.”

Sofia Coll sings in three languages: Spanish, English for the international audience and Catalan, her native language. “Excuse me that I haven’t spoken in Catalan, one should never leave their roots”.

“Here To Stay” lyrics – Sofia Coll (Benidorm Fest 2024)

“for all of you that don’t speak Spanish
this is a message for the ones
that didn’t believe in me…
look where I am honey… I made it…
and I’m here to stay”

I’m here to stay
here to stay
I’m here to stay
here to stay, here to stay

muévete
abandónate
a este ritmo cruel
que no va a parar
fuera de control
una sin razón
un no sé porqué, para qué o con quién

Perdoneu que no he parlat català
i de casa no s’ha de renunciar
em saluden quan passo pel carrer
no m’atavalo dic “cheese” passi-ho bé

No me importa arder
ya todo da igual
es cuestión de fe no retroceder
y reconocer que jamás me he rendido

I’m here to stay
here to stay
I’m here to stay
here to stay, here to stay
ya no importará
si me llaman loca sé que es de verdad
abriré las puertas de la eternidad

I came here to stay

English translation

Look at me
this time I know there’s no coming back
nothing will stop me
from trying a thousand more times,
until the end

Imagine me
levitating over the Everest
controlling icebergs
spinning like a strong wind
I am able

Let me feel
this my moment to contradict
to those who forgot about me
This is my moment
I’m burning inside

“for all of you that don’t speak Spanish
this is a message for the ones
that didn’t believe in me…
look where I am honey… I made it…
and I’m here to stay”

I’m here to stay
here to stay
I’m here to stay
here to stay, here to stay

Move
Give yoursel to
this cruel rhythm
that’s not going to stop
out of control
without reason
I don’t know why, what for ot with whom

Excuse that I haven’t spoken in Catalan
and one should not forget its roots
people greet me on the street
I keep my cool and say “cheese, have fun”

I don’t mind burning
it’s all the same
It’s a matter of faith, not going back
and to recognise that I never gave up

I’m here to stay
here to stay
I’m here to stay
here to stay, here to stay
It won’t matter
If they call me crazy, I know it’s real
I’ll open eternity’s doors

I came here to stay
