Back in October Ukraine’s state broadcaster Suspilne revealed that it had received 389 song submissions for Vidbir 2024 — its Eurovision selection for Malmö. And today the broadcaster has revealed the 20 acts who have made the longlist. They include 15 acts who stylise their name in ALL CAPS. These artists clearly want to make a statement…
The lucky 20 will now proceed to live auditions, from which ten will be selected for Ukraine’s national final by November 20. One additional act will be chosen through online voting from the acts that didn’t make the cut.

Fans of Ukrainian music will instantly recognise alyona alyona. She’s the most-loved rapper in Ukraine and her fans have asked her many times if she wants to go to Eurovision. But in one television interview in 2021 she told Kateryna Osadcha that her style may not fit with the competition.
“I don’t know whether I would be ready. It’s rap… it’s such a vocal competition, and I’m more of rap music artist. I wouldn’t know.”
That may explain why she’s teamed up with Jerry Heil, the YouTuber-turned-fan-favourite. She finished third in last year’s national selection with “When God Shuts the Door.” Their collaboration could make for a tantalising offer.
There’s history here. Last year, Jerry and alyona alyona teamed up with Lithuanian Eurovision alum Monika Liu on “Dai Boh,” which you can watch below.
And then there’s MÉLOVIN — another giant of the music scene and his country’s Eurovision 2018 representative with “Under the Ladder.”
MÉLOVIN teased his participation with us back in August, when he was promoting his new song “Don’t Need Your Love.”
He’s grown significantly as an artist since Eurovision 2018, where he finished 17th in the final.
Dmytro Shurov (Pianoboy), the music director of Vidbir 2024, noted that all the artists who made it to the longlist bring something different and original.
“I am very happy to present you the 20 artists that will compete this year for the opportunity to represent Ukraine at Eurovision 2024! All of them are different and original but they are united by a warm heart, talent and a huge thirst for victory. I am grateful to each of them for the sincere and constructive energy they put into their songs. And I am especially grateful to everyone who did not make it to the top twenty – you made this selection possible by creating such a powerful charge. Next year will be a new story and a new chance. And today it is us.”
