Hungary’s AWS set for live concert at London Underworld on 28 October

Posted on 20 October 2023 By Admin No Comments on Hungary’s AWS set for live concert at London Underworld on 28 October

They’re the last act from Hungary to appear in the Eurovision grand final. And since those storied days in Lisbon, AWS have seen both triumph and tragedy. But they’ve kept going and kept winning over new fans as they pump out post-hardcore and metalcore music and perform on the biggest stages in their country.

And today there’s good news for Brits and others in the U.K. If you’re in London on October 28th, you can see AWS in person at London Underworld — the iconic Camden venue that’s a haven for rock, metal and alternative music lovers.

AWS will be sharing the stage with Lazarvs, who they call “another badass Hungarian metal band.”

Hungary’s AWS live at London Underworld

Doors for the AWS x Lazarvs gig open at 18:00. Lazarvs perform from 19:00 to 20:15 with AWS to follow from 20:35 to 21:50.

Tickets are available on The Underworld Camden web site. They’ll set you back £23.67.

In January the band introduced their new frontman, Tamás Stefán. Together they’ve released three singles: “Odaát”, “2359” and “Ketten képzeletben”.

Their first tour together was filled with sold out gigs and a breathtaking show in Budapest Park — the greatest outdoor club in Hungary. They also performed on the main stages of most of Hungary’s major festivals.

In August they fulfilled their own and many of their fan’s dreams by hosting the very first AWS Camp in collaboration with the Siklósi Örs Foundation, which honours the legacy of their co-founder and former frontman, who passed away at 29. The camp brought musicians together to improve their skills and to enjoy each other’s company.

In February 2021, the band paid tribute to Örs Siklósi shortly after his passing.

“To say the unspeakable, to write what no words can describe. This is what we need to do now. Last June Örs had been diagnosed with leukaemia and now we are deeply saddened to inform you that he passed away yesterday.”

“He wanted to open up about his illness last month, he had planned to release his first solo record this Spring and we were set to make the fifth AWS record and play shows again this Fall. During this period his bravery and dignity were exemplary.”

“His creativity, the depth of his lyrics and his presence on the stage will be greatly missed. Losing him is beyond our reach and he will leave a vast space not just in our lives but in the music scene.”

“Örs was the fire himself, warm hearted companion and friend, an inspiring person whom you could trust and always rely on. He was a true wonder.”

“We’re opening our arms and hearts to his family, his friends and everyone who ever felt touched even through his lyrics.”

“We were all very lucky to have had him in our lives and as much as Örs will be missed by us all, he will remain with us all, every day, as long as we can remember.”
