Although we’re officially into the Eurovision 2024 season, it will still be some time before we hear any national final and Eurovision songs. Thankfully, the music will always continue and a number of Eurovision artists are still producing new songs for us to enjoy.
Contrary to the commonly perpetuated myth about the song contest killing careers, we’re always thrilled to report that singers associated with Eurovision are thriving.

New music from Eurovision artists: 2023 | Week 37
Käärijä feat. Tommy Cash – “It’s Crazy It’s Party”
Käärijä won over everyone’s hearts during this year’s Eurovision Song Contest while representing Finland. His charisma is out of this world, and it shines through once again in his latest release, which is a collaboration with Tommy Cash, a well-known Estonian rapper. During the Eurovision season, Käärijä worked on improving his English, and in the meantime, he had some adorable moments that melted the hearts of Eurovision fans. The quote “It’s crazy it’s party” perfectly summed up his feelings after winning Finland’s national final, UMK, and it has since become a viral sentence ever since he said it in a short video for wiwibloggs with our Dayana.
Käärijä’s new song is all about crazy parties, as evident in the lyrics: “365 party days a year/ Party yesterday, party today, and party tomorrow/ Parties everywhere, both abroad and in Finland/ You can’t escape the party, no matter how hard you run.” The music video accompanying the song has numerous references to Käärijä’s Eurovision entry, “Cha Cha Cha.” We see the iconic green bolero once again, and at the start of the video he escapes from a box, another nod to his Eurovision live performance. In other words, his new song is a perfect tribute to the Eurovision era and a perfect follow-up. The ending of the music video leaves us wondering if a new musical chapter is about to begin for Käärijä.
Mae Muller – “Written By A Woman”
Have you ever fallen in love with a fictional character from a book? Mae Muller (UK, 2023) has just the song for you. It seems like Mae Muller’s song provides a playful and imaginative take on the idea of an idealised romantic partner. According to her new track, her ideal man is a creation of fiction, “written by a woman.” The lyrics describe an idealised man who seems too good to be true, leading to the conclusion that he must be a fictional character, perfected by the imagination of a woman: “Confident, but you got mystery/ Darcy with a little Timothée/ Dunno what you’re doing to me, oh you must be/ Written by a woman.” The song features a sophisticated sound, and you will be surprised by Mae’s royal aesthetic, influenced by Rococo fashion. It serves as a teaser for Mae Muller’s debut album, Sorry I’m Late, and it happens to be one of Mae’s personal favourite track on the album.
KALUSH, Grubson & Mykola Vynar – “Lalala”
KALUSH, the lead rapper of Ukrainian Eurovision 2022 champions Kalush Orchestra, has just released another banger. This latest song serves as a musical bridge between Ukraine and Poland, as it’s a collaboration with Polish artist Grubson and Ukrainian artist Mykola Vynar. The chorus of the song is extremely catchy and will have you dancing and singing along. The music video includes the lyrics of the track, featuring rap verses in both Ukrainian and Polish. According to the description in the YouTube clip, the creation of this song took quite some time, but the wait was certainly worth it;
“Yo, this track was written more than two years ago and was waiting for its time. As you can imagine, its time has come. The idea of the track belongs to Mykola, I suggested to involve Grubson, whom I met once in Poland at a festival.”
Alessandra – “Bad Bitch”
Alessandra, the Norwegian queen who represented her country in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, once again proves that she wears the crown with her new song. This track serves as the perfect confidence boost. Alessandra continues to deliver pop anthems that are incredibly addictive. With her latest releases, she not only rules among the kings but also reigns as the queen of pop music.
Her new song revolves around themes of self-love and confidence, emphasising the importance of prioritising oneself and embracing past struggles as sources of strength. The lyrics include lines like, “What a bad bitch/ Got the mirror staring at this bad bitch, yeah/ What a blessing/ How did I turn into such a bad bitch?”. This track serves as the perfect feel-good anthem and a powerful reminder to feel incredible in our own bodies. About her song, Alessandra stated: “When I need to boost my confidence, I listen to BAD B.”
Remo Forrer – “Not Okay”
Remo is a rising star who represented Switzerland in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest. His latest song showcases Remo’s incredible voice through a heartfelt pop anthem, which happens to be a breakup song. In the song, Remo admits that he’s “Not Okay.” The lyrics convey the sense of feeling lost after a failed romance, with lines like: “I got so lost in this stupid game/ I didn’t notice that you don’t wanna play/ Drop me in just to turn away/ Guess you didn’t care that I planed to stay/ So keep your love/ I’ll keep the pain/ It’s not your fault/ You don’t feel the same.” This song captures the emotions that many can relate to after experiencing the end of a relationship. Remo’s sincerity and powerful vocals shine through in this touching track.
Piqued Jacks – “Color Shades”
In a recent interview with wiwibloggs, Piqued Jacks announced their upcoming release of a new track, and here it is. The Italian rock band represented San Marino in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest. Their latest rock track speaks about the wide palette of human emotions. Two of the four band members, E-King and Majic-O, count this song as their personal favourite from the band’s discography. The song explores a surreal and somewhat bewildering experience where distinctions between heaven and hell or between good and bad days become hazy: “‘Cause I woke up in a good day/ Tomorrow just won’t be the same/ Wish me luck, love and fame/ Why the colors melt away?/ ‘Cause I woke up in a bad day/ All around me looks the same/ I feel numb, sad and lame.” The lyrics capture the essence of life’s unpredictable ups and downs, highlighting the idea that life’s fluctuations are constant, symbolised by the ever-changing colours. Additionally, the music video is sure to bring a smile to your face, as the band members bring charisma and vibrant colors. About this song, the band said on their Instagram:
“One day you might wake up ready to take off and conquer the world, and the next you may feel like born losers. It feels like kind of a confession of how we’ve been dealing with our experiences of the last few months. Today’s just a relief, because you’re finally here with us.”
KEiiNO – “Get Up”
Eurofans have a special place in their hearts for KEiiNO after the group represented Norway in the 2019 contest. Their latest song is a burst of energy and undeniably addictive. The song’s message is all about the ups and downs in life, emphasising the importance of never giving up: “Get up, get down, get up again, never gonna stop.” The fans wasted no time in expressing their love for the song, prompting the band to share a message in response. They also acknowledged the talented composers and lyricists behind the track:
“Some people report an ‘ear-worm effect’ and increased energy-levels. Get Up – our new single – is prescription-free and written together with Alex Olsson & Rüdiger Schramm, mixed by Simon Bergseth, master by Henkka Niemisto.”
Michael Schulte & R3HAB – “Better Me”
Michael proudly represented Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2018. His new song is a pleasant surprise because it’s a catchy electro-pop tune. He collaborated with Dutch DJ R3HAB on this track. The song revolves around the theme of finding someone who brings out the best in you, as expressed in the lyrics: “Oh you lift me off the ground, I was down down down/ Ooh, you make me a better me/ Crazy how I feel right now, turn me round round round/ Ooh, you make me a better me.” It’s a song that’ll get you moving for sure. The music video accompanying the song also tells a love story with a happy ending. This isn’t the first time Michael and R3HAB have worked together; they previously released a track called “Waterfall”.
Alicja – “Stój”
Alicja, the emerging Polish star, was originally set to represent Poland in Eurovision 2020. Unfortunately, the contest was cancelled that year due to the pandemic. Nevertheless, we can’t help but be amazed by Alicja’s incredible voice, which shines in all of her releases since, including this one. The song is titled “Stop,” and Alicja delivers a powerful ballad that truly stands out.
AISEL – “Nə var, nə yox?”
AISEL brings a delightful fusion of electronic club vibes and pop sounds in her latest release, titled “What’s Going On?”. AISEL had previously represented Azerbaijan in 2018, and since then she has continued to shine in the realm of pop music. The track boasts a mesmerising sound, complemented by AISEL’s warm and inviting voice, which blends seamlessly with the song. Even more, AISEL composed both the music and the lyrics herself, adding a personal touch to the track.
Ronnie Romero – Too Many Lies, Too Many Masters
Ronnie Romero, the Chilean star, made his mark by representing Bulgaria at Eurovision in 2021 as the vocalist in the band Intelligent Music Project. His new album is a must-listen for rock music enthusiasts. The album features ten strong rock tracks that will add some energy to your playlist. While the entire album is fantastic, a few songs particularly shine with their incredible instrumentals and impactful lyrics, such as “Chassed By Shadows”, “Too Many Lies, Too Many Masters” and “Girl, Don’t Listen To The Radio”. If you’re in the mood for something more laid-back, “Crossroad” offers a powerful ballad. Rock on!
Johnny Logan – “Heaven’s Closed”
Johnny Logan is a true Eurovision legend, having won the contest twice as a singer, first in 1980 and then again in 1987. His latest song carries a relaxed, laid-back vibe that harmonises beautifully with Johnny’s warm and gentle style. The song touches on those days when it feels like heaven itself has closed its doors: “Heaven’s closed, the angels have all gone home.” About his new song, Johnny said:
“‘Heavens Closed’ was written about my brother & my time hanging out in city’s all over Europe in the late 80s / 90s . I describe the feel as New Orleans with a swing. Hope everyone enjoys it. It’s my favourite song to perform live at the moment.”
LUM!X feat. LUCiD & FRiENDS – “Kids Like Us”
Ready for some electronic music? LUM!X, who represented Austria last year alongside Pia Maria, has teamed up with LUCiD & FRiENDS for a new collaboration. This song is all about delivering chill vibes. It’s complemented by a vibrant and colorful lyric video. Despite its upbeat sound, the lyrics of the song take a darker turn, with lines like: “I crashed your car and sink it down into the river/ When kids like us chasing highs just to feel alive/ I don’t know why, why you set my world on fire/ When kids like us chasing highs just to feel alive.”
Clara Peya feat. Salvador Sobral – “Alta traïció”
Salvador Sobral, the Portuguese star who won Eurovision in 2017, has collaborated with Spanish pianist Clara Peya on a new song in Catalan. Titled “High Treason” in English, the track ventures into experimental and alternative territory, blending gentle piano melodies with electronic elements. This fusion creates a captivating sense of tension within the song. “High Tension” is featured on Clara’s latest album, CORSÉ.
Mike Tramp – “Hvis Du Vil”
It’s time to introduce a Danish song to our playlists. Mike Tramp, who represented Denmark in 1978 as part of the band Mabel, has a new addition for us. Titled “If You Want” in English, this song is a laid-back offering. It carries a serene and acoustic sound. “If You Want” is a preview of Mike’s upcoming album, Man of A Time, set to be released in early 2024.
Omar Naber – “Spusti me”
Omar, who represented Slovenia in Eurovision 2017, is back with a powerful new song titled “Let Me Go” in English. This track is a potent ballad that takes a bold leap into the rock genre in its second half. Omar demonstrates his musical versatility by skillfully blending rock elements with meaningful lyrics in Slovenian, resulting in a compelling addition to our playlist.
Csézy – “Rejtett szépség”
Csézy, the Hungarian representative from Eurovision 2008, has made a return with a poignant and touching song titled “Hidden Beauty” in English. This ballad is accompanied by an emotionally charged music video. The song celebrates the uniqueness of each individual, with Csézy’s gentle voice perfectly complementing the lyrics: “He is an artist with a desire for miracles/ He has been living and creating for a thousand years/ He draws for us hearts and faces from above.” The lyrics go deeper into the concept of inner beauty, emphasising the importance of recognising and valuing it, offering a boost of confidence: “Break it up!/ Believe in the hidden beauty that glows within you is still alive! (…) Tear apart everything that obscures your inner light!”
Lidia Kopania & Age Connect – “Together”
Lidia, who proudly represented Poland in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2009, is back with a fantastic new track. This pop song features strong retro influences that grow on you the more you listen to it. The new track is a collaboration with Age Connect, a band that includes Lidia as the vocalist, along with Tomasz Labanowski, Peter Surray, and Ansgar Gusinde.
Shiri Maimon & Abi Aburomi – “שקוף”
Shiri, who represented Israel at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2005, has a new collaboration with Abi Aburomi. Their latest song, titled “Transparent” in English, features heartfelt and personal lyrics. The lyrics convey a deep message about how love can help you navigate through tough times and life’s challenges. The lines speak about resilience, love and unity that can overcome any hardship: “And you’re not crying anymore/ It’s just the day that goes down/ Like rain on the water the silence dances/ And how in every tear/ I saw transparent/ In the end it’s just me and you against all the madness”.
Duncan Laurence & Douwe Bob
It was episode three of Beste Zangers 2023 this weekend. This time the focus was on Marco Bakker, a classically-trained opera singer. Sadly for us, neither Duncan Laurence nor Douwe Bob decided to have a go at some opera themselves. Instead, the Eurovision 2019 champion performed Cole Porter’s “So in love”, which Bakker first sung in Rio de Janeiro. Meanwhile, Eurovision 2016 star Douwe gave a rendition of “Danny Boy”, Marco’s favourite ever song.
